I’ve been told that I act like I’m in a relationship (or taken) even though I’m single. I never knew that was a thing and it could possible be a reason behind why I don’t really get approached much. Is anyone able to explain more?

Probably because, and I'm going to be a bit crass here, your not chasing men or dressing like you belong to the streets. If that's the case it's not a bad thing, it just means in public settings you may have to be more forthcoming about your intentions.
