asking for a friend...
Contextually. If you're going on a log-splitting date, then sure; if you're going to a Broadway musical, less so. If you're going to the axe-throwing place, it's unnecessary; they have their own there for you to use (the one near where I used to live had a "ladies' night" every Thursday). If it's an axe-murder date, well, I suppose that WOULD be appropriate, but then you have some other problems.
Come to think of it, what kind of axe? A hatchet may be overlooked, but that's mostly a matter of size; a hurlbat will DEFINITELY attract attention, but maybe not the kind you want; a labyrs... don't bring a labrys. I don't CARE if it's with another woman; you don't WANT to bring up politics on a casual date, and even as an AXE, it leaves a lot to be desired. Bring a halberd, and he'll (not sure how a woman would react) either be terrified or want to marry you. Or both.
I'd be fine with it, but I would likely bring one of my own. We'd need to coordinate, though - it would be weird if you brought a Norse design and I brought a Chinese or a Native American design - we should at least pick models from the same continent.
Yeah if you want your date to run off screaming in the wind away from you, then definitely bring a axe lol
Yeah I think pepper spray would look a little bit less intimidating yet equally as effective
You’d have to get that pepper spray up to a ridiculously high pressure, and have a lot more of it than the typical 11 to 15 g canister in order to duplicate the axe’s decapitating ability.

I wouldn’t even know what to say.
Such a fun question! Always about context, right? If we're in Alaska on a date, probably! Maybe somewhere in the upper midwest? New York in evening clothes from dinner to a Broadway show, then probably not appropriate. And I screwed up voting where I clicked yes but meant "no, not inappropriate depending on context". Even cooler question: which axe would you bring?
Maybe a practical axe if you're going to chop woods or maybe a fancy videogame-ish would be better for NY lol. So you wouldn't think your date is trying to kill you or something?
lmfao
CRKT Freyr Axe: Outdoor Axe with Deep Beard Design, Forged Carbon Steel Blade, and Hickory Wooden Handle 2746 https://a.co/d/dlOonkZ
This is an awesome axe for backpacking or CQC. It’s compact haft coupled with its light but well made bearded blade make this axe a great choice for most applications non-professional axe wielders will find themselves in.
It would depend on whether you were concealing or open Carrion, and what the context of the date was. If you’re going camping for the weekend as a date then I don’t see why not? However if you’re staying in civilization it would at least be a little suspicious.
Open carrying🤣
Just casually going dining with a massive axe, do you think people will mind?
I recommended a particular model that isn’t massive or unwieldy, which might even be concealable with some jackets or purses.
A battle axe is fine but a wood cutting axe would make me think she just wants to go camping. So tired of women assuming I want to go live in the woods just because my ears are a little pointy and I have a beautiful singing voice. I'm not an elf, people.
Incidentally, "Old battle-axe" is an old descriptive nickname for a middle-aged, grouchy spinster schoolteacher; the kind who tints her white hair blue, and pins it up in a tight bun. wears "Old Mother Hubbard" lace-up shoes, and teaches the kids to march in place!
I carry a knife on me pretty much at all times so take your chances I guess. Though I'd definitely ask her what was with the axe and I would definitely stay around groups of people because I'm not going anywhere alone with a stranger who brought an axe to a date.
Uh, what are you planning to do on that date?
Maybe camping, maybe cooking, maybe chopping something else along those lines. Bad idea for a date?
Whew! I was going to suggest a.38 cal. Police Special would be lighter and easier to carry. And you could spring it on him as a surprise! You understand I'm kidding, right?
You really can’t go wrong with a 38 special J frame as a concealed carry. You could certainly do better, but that’s a good baseline to start from.
Wasn't think the question that way but I guess I'll keep that in mind for future references (when I get a gun, not that I'm going to kill anyone).
When you get your CCW permit DM me, I work in a gun store.
Not at all, it's good sense. Want a steak? Chop! Date getting creepy? Chop! Want faster service? Threaten to Chop!
You have a beautiful mind
I don't see an issue as I conceal carry to all my dates... if he brought one I'd ask if we were going to go axe throwing somewhere, cause I wish he had let me known so I could of brought mine.
Yes! Of course it's inappropriate. You should bring a Chainsaw instead!
You never know what people are actually into now. so id say yes it is weird, and if you try that, be prepared for your date to avoid you, and call the police..
well... since I've been throwing blades since I was six years old or so, and axes being among my favorite, personally... it would earn great points from me
I'd love for someone to bring an axe to our date, that's how you know they're built different, or possibly a sociopath, I would say psychopath, but they wouldn't care to do so, they'd find it boring.
If you’re Gimli, son of Glóin then yes. I would probably be really impressed if a guy showed up for a date with a battle axe.
Where were you when I was single😆
No. I miss the medieval time as wearing a clean and rust free battle axe belonged to good manners.
Yes very appropriate. I bring 3 with me on every date
🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Very bad yes!!!
Not if the date plan is to chop down a Christmas tree.
Not at all, it would make me think she values the safety and honor of her family.
If you were going to one of those Axe throwing places she would be impressed if you had your own axe.
YES, but here in Texas chainsaws are encouraged.
I think you might not want to do it unless your dating one of the norse region cultures XD.
Is it part of a costume and you are going to play a game of D&D? Then it may be fine.
That would be really cool! Like a battle axe or a great axe.
It would make "your friend" even more attractive to me, lol!
I think they would be arrested anyway because you have to have reasonable justification to carry anything that can be deemed a offensive weapon.
But personally I would find it intriguing.
Axe throwing. What else is there to do on a date? Now the question is, who can catch the most.
Lol. Great idea. You could use it to cut your food.
How about you ‘axe’ your date and see if they be pleased with that?
I would not want my date to bring an axe; I can get too paranoid.
Depends what you plan to do with it really.
A Viking theme experience and an axe is virtually a must.
Sushi and a walk in the park, not so much...
Ugh axes are so mideval though. Might I suggest a nice shiny katana?
Um Yea, unless we’re going hatchet tossing.
( great date option by the way it’s so fun )
I mean why not duh !
How else are we going to do the axe throwing activity after dinner.
only if I was a mad axe man, but I always take one camping as it is very handy
If they have problem with it, they're not a match
As long as they don't mind me bringing an uzi! WdaF?
An axe would be more practical than a than a Claymore...
Yeah it would but unless you were going to a renaissance fair or it was Halloween
If it's to an axe-throwing place, or if it's a firewood-collecting date, then it is fine. Otherwise, no.
Obvi sounds like a Halloween date. But another Q: why are there so many axe murders? Isn’t it the most awkward of weapons?
Looool this question! Love your 🧠
Gee you think?
Yesss... I tell him to bring one too!
Sure if you are allowed with axe
Am I teaching her how to fell a tree?
Are you axe throwing on the date?
Are you dating an axe murderer?
You date might run in fear of his life lol
No but hacksaw tho😀
Yesssssssss 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Is my date.. Patrick Bateman?
Not if he's the right one.
That would excite me 😀🥵🥵🥵
Yes. Bring a firearm they're much more effective
no unless you plan on using it lol
It would be if it ain't your best axe
Axe throwing sounds like a fun idea!
Go with a chainsaw
Depends on the date.
C, lol.
