How do I know if it is a date?

A guy from my old class messaged me the other day asking me how I was doing etc. We've always gotten along well, but have never met outside of school. He suggested we meet for coffee next week. I'm totally excited because I‘ve always had a little crush on him :) I never thought he would like me or talk to me again after school lol so I'm excited and nervous too. How do I know if he just wants to meet up, like as friends , or if it's a date? Does he like me?

Don't put a label on it. Just enjoy your time together. How the two of you interact together will determine if both of you want to take it further. If he had no interest, he wouldn't have reached out to you. You can ask him what triggered him to think of you and reach out. It's too early to ask him where he wants it to go. Just show an interest in him and what's been important to him in his life. Enjoy your coffee.

You don't know until you go see him. Just enjoy it. BUT... look at it this way: he thinks enough of you to reach out and ask you to coffee. If you enjoy it, ask him out for dinner.

Chances are pretty good he likes you. It’s all about the fact that you didn’t talk much during school obviously and then now a while after and he is messaging you about getting together out of no where…
