I find it interesting.

Working in medical I often work with people of other ethnicities and I've gone on a few (5 dinner dates - nothing sexual) with medical assoicates - not colleagues per se. Anyway I find some of them don't care if we go to their ethnicity / ethnic restaurants & others are completely against going to such restaurants.

The reason I'm asking is because one of them slipped up and said he'd be embarassed going to X ethnic restaurant with a white girl. Let's just say he didn't last past that comment.

There could be any number of motivations. Sure, if that person is known there, they may not want people in their business. Or maybe they think you won't like the cuisine. Maybe they just want to eat something different.

Maybe. I wouldn't say that they're embarrassed to be dating you but they might be embarrassed of their culture's food. Or they might be afraid of your reaction when you taste the food.

I don't blame them. There's a traditional dish from my country that I will never cook for a boyfriend. And no, it wouldn't be because I would be embarrassed to be dating him.
