I had a friend in a similar situation. Everyone thought she liked guys because she once dated a football player, but she liked girls, well, actually she was bi-sexual, but she took more of an interest in girls. It's never easy keeping a secret but at the same time, wanting others to know that secret because it will make you feel better if they know.
What my friend did was start out slow and told just 1 person. She asked them if she could talk to them in private with no one around and told them she was interested in girls. That friend she told was me, lol.
But anyway, after she told me, she asked me for advice on how to tell others. Maybe this same advice will work for you. For right now, maybe just start out by telling only people you know wouldn't be judgmental.
The person that you refused, was it another girl? If so, ask to speak with them in private or write them a note, asking to speak in private, because if you can get the person alone, it will be easier explaining the only reason you said no was because you were afraid of other people sticking their nose in. Unfortunately, people are judgmental, they're ignorant, and rude, but remember, this is your life. You do not have to listen to other people. If you want to date girls, that's your prerogative. If anyone gives you any problems, fuck them! That's their problem. I hope this advice helped.
