Girls, have you ever dated a man who you would consider the "pure" and "innocent" type?

I've dated two different women in the past who have told me how I'm so "pure" and "innocent" partly because I'm still a virgin and the other part is because I always stay out of trouble.

When I think of the "pure" and "innocent" label being applied to men, I assume it means things don't want to be associated with (childishness, being soft and effeminate, etc.)

No, but that's only because of our shared kinks. I'm into BDSM and only date people who are compatible with that.

But that stops at the bedroom.

I think you could call all my previous partners "innocent" (with few exceptions from the BDSM stuff).

Two notable men I dated who, while certainly not innocent in the sheets, were quite naive and innocent about the world at large.

The first was a suburban white middle class boy. His innocence was in how he didn't know how to approach life as himself, and in his complete lack of situational awareness. He moved into the city with me and I had to be the one to defend him if we went out in the city centre. I once stopped an attack on us just by recognizing and greeting our would-be attacker - he realized I'd be more fight than I'm worth. But my then-bf had NO CLUE we'd been in any danger. Too innocent to take anywhere you wouldn't take a child.

My second ex was innocent in the worst ways. Also not very sexually experienced, to his credit he had begun exploring his sexuality (he's straight, but that doesn't mean you can't explore your preferences) and lost his virginity. Credit to his previous sub, she trained him up. Unfortunately his attitude to improvement was limited to sex and he was 100% "innocent boy" in that he had no clue how to live independently. He could survive on his own, but he couldn't have a live.

My ex girlfriend was innocent in all the ways. Virgin, late blooming gay, and very sheltered. It didn't work out.

I think it's entirely possible to get someone if you're innocent. And innocence isn't always childish. In my mind, innocence is mostly inexperienced with a self-destructive naivety. I grew up a visible minority, child of immigrants, and closeted queer. I never had the luxury of innocence. Since childhood I've been fetishized by old white men or targeted for racism - I never had the luxury of being naive about how humans really are.

So personally, I don't date people who register to me as "innocent". Chances are way too strong they'll exhaust me with their inexperience and rosy tinted glasses. I prefer people who have a cold, competent side to them. It isn't their default, nor is it mine, but when it comes down to brass tacks, you have to do what you have to do.

As a guy, no, I haven't dated anyone who is pure and innocent. I would love to date, marry and make babies with this type of girl. For me, she is a GEM. Where is she? If I found her, I will not let her go.

I would consider myself to be the pure and innocent type because I prefer to stay virgin and I guess I’m quite sheltered compared to majority of people. However women don’t seem to want innocent, pure and sheltered. They seem to want guilty, fucked up and exposed

My husband was a virgin really first got married, so in that way I would consider him pure. And that's what my standards require. But not innocent. I think innocence is something that only little children and some mentally handicapped people have.
