It can. But singing well and on key is critical to it. You can't sing Pavarotti when you sound like Neil Young.

I sang in a garage band as a teen and later in a black/white choir at church. Both gave me confidence in singing in public and the choir taught me how to "belt" which is diaphragm singing.

In my Karaoke date, I got up the (liquid) courage (Thanks, Jim Beam) to sing Tom Jones' "Delilah", with two results.

*I almost fukking passed out on the last Any Moooore. I was way over my pay grade and I sat several minutes to recover.
*I got a STANDING OVATION from the entire bar because I had the balls to try it.

Yes, I think it contributed to a good outcome on the date.

If you are a great singer it does however if you can sing & it is at that point where it’s annoying or people leave you probably will not have a second date.

I like karaoke but I don't sing in front of guys cause my voice breaks sometimes and I know guys who think it's annoying. My female friends don't care. I could sound like a gorilla and they would take me singing with them.

Yes, absolutely. It's great to sing a duet with your love interest.

Once I sang "You're the one that I want" with a woman and for me the song was all about her.

The good thing is that it's quite exciting and you may experience a little stage fright together before rassuring each other. These are great steps towards deeper collaboration.

100%. Gosh i miss it. 2017-2019 was the year of karaoke boyfriends. I love guys who can't really sing but they still have fun singing with you. I dislike guys who can sing great because then they never stfu and always want to sing to you 🤣

Wouldn't be my recommendation but if it's something both people already know they enjoy or whatever then it's probably fun for them. Definitely not a universal one in my opinion.
