I am a physics grad student. I have been bookish my whole life , and I have been volunteering in animal shelters for a long time. I make little money and spend most of the saving towards the treatments , food for stray animals.
Don't have a car , or any cool expensive stuffs. Most of the time can't afford high end restaurants.
It impacted my dating life , girls around my age expect stuffs from men in relationships, not having a car is a huge deal breaker in here.
I have never had a girlfriend, still a virgin and 28. Lately , I am having a very hard time. I never had anyone to care for me ever , including parents. Everyone around me are way experienced. I always loved caring from helpless animals but I am afraid if I don't stop and save some money, no one will date me ever. But that's a tough decision.😞

You are still a student. You can't expect to have loads of money. That comes after the degree. Trust me. I am in the same boat somewhat. I do work but don't have tons of money or anything. I basically make enough to pay rent, get necessities, and pay student loans. It isn't going to get much better anytime soon either. I start my masters in the fall. I still have a ways to go until I start a career and earn some real money. Does that mean I am going to change who I am? No way.
Guys are expected to pay in relationships and have stuff , at least around my age. It's already hard being a grad student. I am thinking about doing the volunteer work and instead go to gym and sort finances. Girls can get easy dates being a student. As from my experiences no girl wanna date broke men. Everyone now wants gym or fun guys. They make fun of someone like me , if ask for dates.
Nothing wrong with saving helpless animals. You shouldn't change yourself for a woman. A woman should change herself for you. But a lot of woman love money and cars.
Real life is different, most women don't wanna date a grad student already, cars are a thing in here and girls will not date a guy without one. I see other guys going to gyms , making money , partying and tons of women are after them. Here I am single , never had a girlfriend at 28. In few years women will think me as a creep.
