So for a background story, I have known this guy John longer than Ethan. I was in our school's track and field team and John joined later on. His attendance was very inconsistent for trainings and he left the team much earlier than me. During our time there we did exchange a few sentences mostly involving me encouraging him or asking about his progress, or either of us greeting each other, because he was always very polite and didn't reply much and smiled a lot (which I felt he is like that to many, or everyone)
Fast forward a few months, we participated in a school trip together and said hi a few times as we hung out with different clicks. Other than that, we didn't see each other after the trip and would occasionally bump into each other in school as we aren't classmates either, thus we would just say hi to each other and leave it as that. Now I am having my internship and he works in the same place as me but our shift timings are different while he and Ethan are the same.
I have only known Ethan for 2 weeks and he asked if I wanted to go cycling with him and John over the weekend. A few moments later, he ran to find me asking if I have a boyfriend where I said no. He smiled and was like nodding and going "ok, okayyy". When I asked him why, he smiled and just said " Oh 'cause John asked yesterday if you had a girlfriend so I just asked" then he jus ran off.
I just find it strange why John would wonder about this, or he could just ask me himself a long time ago, especially since I know him longer than I knew Ethan
