If a guy asks "Do you miss me?" what does he mean?

What does it mean when a guy asks "Do you miss me?" right after saying "Hi" while chatting? (He's out of state right now)

I asked why and he said he heard it on TV next to him.

I asked him what TV show and he said he doesn't know.

Does he really miss me or asked because he really heard it on tv?

Guys are hard to read and I want to know if he's interested in me more than just a friend.

When he asked you if you missed him, he was probably expecting a yes or no answer. I'm going to guess that when you asked him why he asked (and you say WE'RE difficult to read), he took that to mean that the question had creeped you out and just came up with some rediculous excuse to cover his tracks.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret about guys. It doesn't matter how clever or charming we are, when we're around a girl that we really like most of us become blathering idiots. I mean seriously, he heard it on TV? Then to top it off he didn't know what show it was. He probably spent 20 minutes working up the nerve to text you that and when it didn't go as expected he just responded with the first thing that came to his mind. The poor guy must really like you.

Is was just a little flirting, you scared him a bit by asking him why. I don't even understand how the T.V. excuse works. He may or may not really miss you, but he obviously wants to talk to you. Nothing serious though, don't judge the status of your relationship over what he says in a chat.
