Best advice for physically unattractive people who want to enter a relationship?

Let's be realistic: physical attractiveness matters a lot in determining ease and success in dating, especially for younger people. Also there is a notion of conventional attractiveness in any given society. Most people are in fact attracted to the same physical traits. Personally I think it is cruel and misleading to tell people who don't look conventional attractive that it's all about their personality or that they're just not trying hard enough.

I think realistic and actionable advice would be to try to date people who fall into a similar level of attractiveness as yourself. After a certain age (when you're over 30) looks really do stop mattering that much. As people who don't look conventionally attractive, we must strive to stop caring about looks in a partner. This can be very difficult, but ultimately we can have very healthy marriages or long term relationships that will last into old age.
