Question

I started talking to this guy on a dating site. The conversation flowed quite well and then he added me on Instagram. He told me that he thought I looked like a model in my pictures and that I was very photogenic. He asked if I wanted to go for drinks with him soon and then said ‘I think we can proceed to the next step’ and then gave me his phone number and asked me to text him on his phone and he’d reply later after work. He didn’t offer a daytime date to meet for a coffee or go for a walk, he wanted to meet in the evening for drinks. He keeps asking me what my favourite drink is too. He has suggested also going on walks too in his text messages but the focus is mainly on meeting up for drinks

Are these red flags that he is being too forward too soon? Or is this normal in dating apps for a guy to ask a girl out for drinks?

Whenever you go on a dating site, man or woman, you cannot be naive... sex is always on the table that's why it's a dating site. Now that does not mean they only want to hook up, or that its only about sex... there are plenty of people out there looking for real relationships. But if you are looking for a relationship, then that means at some point sex is going to happen.

I mean its 2023, dating sites are what they are... I hate it when you go on site connect with cool chick, then she gets all up inside her own head and fucks it up. Sure, he is interested in sex, so what... that does not mean he does not want more than that, and it does not mean he wants it right away.

This is silly, look if you like the guy but you are uncomfortable about drinks then fucking tell him that. Just say I do not want to go get drinks with a guy I just met online... how about a cup of coffee instead?

But instead of you just being honest about your feelings on drinks, you are just churning this around in your head, and that is the mind fuck that women do all the time. Instead of engaging in an honest conversation with the guy on the subject... you're going to get inside your head and mind fuck yourself by stirring up all these emotions... when the dude just wants to go get drinks with you.

Now if you talk to him about it and he is not understanding then he is a loser, and you need to cut him loose. So, it's not like you are off track on how you are thinking or feeling, but what you are not doing is talking to him about in a transparent way. Thats on you not him.

If it's making you uncomfortable than he is making a mistake but if your cool with it then maybe not. Of course he wants to sleep with you but it doesn't mean that he is setting a trap he wants to get to know you and see how it goes with drinks because it's probably a comfortable familiar area. If he invited you over to his place to watch a movie or "cook" for you then id be more concerned. That early coffee stuff or lunch for someone that feels more social in the evenings is not fun. I don't like it.

You met on a dating site, the place "par excellence" for those that only want fornication and you are asking if he is only interested in copulating with you?

You give the answer yourself to your question. Since both of you are on dating sites, it is obvious that the ultimate goal is to fornicate at some point or another.

He is simply a smart talker that wants to hide his final aim behind words such as "have a drink", "go for a walk" or other seemingly innocent phrases and words. Of course he wants sex and nothing else but you were aware of that fact the second you signed up on those dating sites.

Sex is never out of the picture, if it’s not now, it will happen eventually. I hope it’s daytime not night time. If it’s at night, I personally would want that to be in a very popular public space to go for that walk. Going for a drink you better know the safety girl rules drinking out alone with a stranger.

Could be he wants to have sex. Could also be he wants to meet and get to know you. You'll never know unless you meet him. Do drink ks if you want, just remember to stay in charge if your own body. If things get uncomfortable, just leave. Otherwise, enjoy the company.

this guy knows what he wants. that being said, yes of course he wants to have sex. it’s honestly one of the easiest ways to get to know each other… all of my past relationships have started with hooking up first.
