I was at a party and I happened to meet this one guy who I thought was really cute and we hit it off instantly. We were talking more and we exchanged phone numbers. Then I told him I lived an hour away and even after that we kept talking. After he left my friend came up to me and said Joey (not real name) really likes you but you live far away from him and he doesn't drive on highways. I'm not sure if it was an excuse or if he really didn't drive on highways or not.

I connected with my wife through a pre-electronic dating organization. She said that, when she found out where I lived, which was about an hour away, she almost rejected my for being "GU" (geographically undesirable). But she liked my photo and profile and decided to give me a try. LOL
I met her at a restaurant near where she lived and we totally hit it off.
At the time, I drove every day for a living, had an all expenses paid company car, and didn't mind driving at all. So it was no problem for me to drive to her.
When I'm in a relationship, I want to see my partner a lot. So I would never engage in a LDR where we could only see each other occasionally. Merely communicating via devices is not a relationship. So, yes, distance is a valid reason to reject someone.
But I never flinched at driving 30 to 60 minutes for a girlfriend. That's a breeze, although, 15 minutes is better. 😉 Sometime sacrifices are worth it, though.
It is for some of us. I only hook up within a 5 mile radius
Yeah, an hour is a bit of a stretch.
