Is it normal to go on 3 dates then be official?

Asking cuz he's not my boyfriend (23) yet and im told its odd to go on 3 dates then be official. I (19) think its normal tho. We met at work. Then at a Christmas party at work he asked for my phone and put his number in. He tells me that he wants to date me and be official and get approval from my mom (who i live with). He’s everything I've wanted too. I feel like im living my disney dream. he's not attractive tbh which is ok cuz i love him fohis personality and the way treats and talks to me which made me fall head over heels for him fast. We argue over who’s paying cuz i tell i wanna pay and he says no and he knows i use apple pay a lot so he takes my phone and puts it in his pocket while he pays then he gives me phone back lol. Its adorable too. He even gets protective when there’s other guys around too and he will walk behind me. He even puts his arm around me too cuz i tend to get pretty shy in public so he orders the food for me etc. But 3 dates i think is normal cuz its just to get the feeling and vibe of the other person yk?

That's pretty much what happened in all my relationships.

I always dated to find a girlfriend, not just a hook up. So I would date one girl at a time.
She would be the only one on my radar and have my full attention. I was already exclusive, so to speak.

If we didn't click, I would move on. But if we liked each other and got along great, we would go on another date and speak to each other in the meantime.

If we were into each other by the second or third date, we were official. Things progressed to infatuation very rapidly.

We work at dave and busters. He works the arcade and i host, serve food, buss tables. On our dates we tend do something we both wanna do. When we hangout we either go to the mall or go shopping together or go to different game stops and we go out to eat. We also go to his hideout and we game together. We talk about his dad and his 5 bands he was in and one he's currently in too thats pretty popular. We can spend hours together in public. One time he picked me up at 8 am and then he dropped me off around midnight

I know him quite well actually. We hang out often on our days off and we call a lot and get to know each other and we set boundaries and tell each other what we’re ok with. While on Thursdays we have our dates. We had the talk about sex and we both agreed we dont want that. He told his family and friends about me and i did too. He asks me where i wanna go for a date and we can work it out together same with hanging out. I dont talk to him a lot at work cuz we wanna keep us private for now. But again we do call everyday each morning and night and we text through out the day. He will call me out of the blue asking if im ok cuz he gets the feeling that I’m not. He called about the way i texted saying what i said wasn't like me and i balled my eyes out and he came to pick me up and we talked about it in his car while he drove us to the mall and we walked together and he asked me more about my insecurities cuz he knew about them already but he wanted to know more. He and i very straight forward with each other and were completely honest. We tell each other everything that goes on. U can ask me a question about him and ik i can answer it.
