summary: i have a gym crush and we have a mutal friend. he told my friend i was cute and i wanted to talk to him so i followed him on ig and shot my shot. i told him he was cute and we should go out and he agreed, followed me back, liked my story, but when i responded yeah and how we should anytime, he never responded. its been 2 weeks and i've seen him at the gym twice and still no message. i thought he was interested?

do i smile at the gym when i see him to get his attention or just ignore him and move on?

did i chase him and is he not interested because he KNOWS im interested and doesn't have to put in the work? or is there another reason he hasn't messaged me back? i dont want to wait around for him to message me again but im just so frustrated.

Move on for now. that’s what you do. Maybe you weren’t wrong about his interest, but what really mattered was his intent behind it, and he didn’t have one.


Sometimes we create a sort of flirty dynamic with people we see regularly (like at work, school, bar, gym, etc) yet it never leaves the location where it’s happening. To me, that’s just convenient flirting without much purpose behind it.


I don’t blame you for making a move and you should feel any sort of way about it. You had the courage to act on what you were experiencing and ultimately he isn’t interested in exploring a romantic connection, which is totally fine. I would just dial back my flirting with him going forward, since you basically have your answer as to where he stands. If he’s interested in a real way then put the ball in his court to act on that, you’ve more than done your part, in my opinion.

Just cut to the chase, if you really likes him and you want conclusion about it so you will not overthink about it later on, when you greet each other just mention conversation if he starts to avoid it or something else just end that childish game.
