Girl who said she’s interested in me says she isn’t free for an entire week and wants to have a second date next week instead, is this a bad sign?

Had a first date with a girl I knew for a while before, told her I was into her and she reciprocated.

Anyway, I asked her for a second date and she agreed. It was supposed to happen this week, but she texted me to say that she doesn’t think she’ll be free this week and asked if we could see each other next week instead.

This is perfectly normal, right? I just can’t help thinking that if she was truly interested in me she would’ve either made time or offered a more specific time instead. Feels odd to rule out a whole week although she is going away at the end of it (apparently).

Update, I asked her for a specific day and she said “possibly next weekend but I’m not even sure, I don’t know why I’ve been so busy.” Huh? She wants me to wait almost 2 weeks and even then it sort of feels like she’s setting up an excuse to not meet on the weekend either. Am I looking too much into it?

Damn bro, that's a tricky one. On the one hand, she did agree to the second date, so she must be at least somewhat into you still. But pushing it a whole week later is kinda suspect too.

- Ask for some more specifics on her schedule next week. Like which day/time she's thinking rather than just "next week." That shows intent.

- See if you can make any plans to chat or FaceTime during the week of waiting, even if just for a bit each day. Keep the connection alive.

- Pay attention to how much effort she's putting in overall through texts this week. Responding quickly shows interest.

- Has she offered any alternative dates earlier in the week she might open up for? Even if just for a short meetup.

If the communication seems half-assed and she's not trying for anything before next weekend, I might start wondering. But for now give her the benefit of the doubt. Hmm yeah after seeing the texts, I'd say it's pretty likely she's actually just busy dude. A few things that make it seem legit:

- She apologized and explained she's usually not THIS busy, without you even questioning her. Shows she wants to reassure you.

- She specifically mentioned looking forward to seeing you at work on Wednesday too. Not something she'd say if she was avoidant.

- When you said you weren't offended, she double reassured you by saying she didn't want you to think "bad thoughts". Like she cares what you think.

- You both hearted each others replies too. Not a super flirty vibe but friendly.

- The girl you checked with also thinks she's being sincere which adds to it.

My guess is she probably is swamped with stuff but is also interested in you. If she starts flaking on plans from here THEN I'd be wary. But for now gives me the impression she's telling the truth. I think it’s normal. People have lives outside of their relationships, and sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs. Something at work may have come up, a family member may have asked for help, or she just needs to utilize her time to prepare for this going away she has coming up. She asked if she could see you next week, which tells me that she’s still interested.
