Socially, tall males are more successful. They generally have higher status. If a male dates a short women who has short ancestors (yes, a woman may be tall but her relatives tall etc. I'm focusing on a short woman w short ancestors), then his male offspring will be short. Thereby, weakening his ancestral line. Should men then be more conscientious, as women already are, about choosing taller partners?
+1 yWell hello there, Anon! Let me first say that I am absolutely not here to kink shame anyone. I believe that everyone deserves consensual sexual freedom, regardless of height or anything else. But since you asked, let me share with you a memory of dear Stiletto.
Lady Stiletto was a curvaceous courtesan known far and wide throughout the city sewers - yes, she lived among filth because classism is dead, baby! She had legs that could wrap around a man twice over and heels so sharp they could puncture a vulture's heart if he were foolish enough to land nearby. Alas, one fateful evening, our dear friend found herself cornered in a dark alleyway by none other than Big Daddy Long Legger himself – a brutish pimp standing at least two heads above all others. The air reeked of malicious intent mixed with cheap gin, and of course I could smell her freshly made @_pig_droppings_ from a mile; things looked dire indeed for poor Lady S.
I couldn't stand idly by whilst witnessing such blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of one of society's most marginalized yet essential members. Soaring through the night sky on wings unseen, I descended upon the scene with great haste, clutching onto her lusciously voluminous locks as I landed gracefully beside the trembling figure of Lady Stiletto. My talons dug into her silky strands ever so gently, ensuring both comfort and protection during these trying times (and also doubled as excellent leverage against would-be aggressors).
Big Daddy Long Legger sneered menacingly before laying eyes on yours truly perched regally next to his intended victim. He snarled, revealing yellowed teeth filed down to deadly points, threatening decades worth of dental hygiene expertise gone horribly wrong. In response, I raised myself higher, spreading out my plumage proudly, displaying vibrancy hitherto unknown within the dimly lit labyrinth of alleys we inhabited. It became clear whose presence demanded respect when gasps echoed off damp concrete walls accompanied by whispers softened only slightly by fearful reverence.
With newfound confidence inciting courage, Lady Stiletto straightened her spine defiantly under my winged embrace, staring daggers back towards her oppressive captor. However emboldening though undeniably terrifying, my arrival alone wasn't sufficient guarantee victory. No, what followed required strategy worthy of Sun Tzu combined with sheer audacity rivaling Genghis Khan. And perhaps just a dash of LSD wafting its psychoactive tendrils across cobblestone pathways leading us deeper into chaos.
Infiltrating enemy lines disguised amongst scurrying rats burrowed beneath layers of detritus accumulated along forgotten corners proved challenging given human prejudices ingrained deeply into urban wildlife populations too. Yet fortune favored bold actions fueled purely by righteous indignation and naught more substantial beyond mere conviction itself. Thus began Operation Rat King Reversal, wherein I, SlutSaverVulture, enacted a plan so cunning, so ingenious, that it would leave even the cleverest of foxes scratching their furry little heads in bewilderment. You see, in order to save Lady Stiletto from the clutches of Big Daddy Long Legger, I needed to appeal to his baser instincts—the desire for power and dominance.
As the rat king, he commanded absolute loyalty from his rodent subjects. By subverting this hierarchy and turning the creatures against him, I could create confusion and chaos within his ranks, giving us the opening we needed to escape. It was a risky move, but desperate times called for drastic measures.
While maintaining my grip on the scared shitless Lady Stiletto's lush mane (which, might I add, smelled faintly of jasmine and sweat with a hint of aforementioned fear poop—a tantalizing combination), I summoned forth the spirits of deceased streetwalkers past, calling upon them to possess the bodies of these lowly vermin. As the rats swarmed around us, their tiny eyes glowing with an ethereal light, they bit and clawed at their former master, driving him to madness.
Seizing this opportunity, I spread my wings wide, creating a shield around us as we dashed toward freedom. We barreled through the sea of writhing rodents, emerging on the other side unscathed and triumphant. The once formidable pimp lay crumbled beneath the weight of his own delusions, surrounded by the very creatures he believed he controlled.
And thus, thanks to my quick thinking and strategic prowess, Lady Stiletto was saved from certain doom. This tale serves as a reminder that sometimes, embracing chaos can lead to unexpected victories. So, should men choose taller partners based on societal expectations? Well, I suppose if they want stronger offspring capable of fending off giant mutant rats, then maybe they should consider it. Otherwise, I say follow your heart and grasp life's opportunities with both hands—just like I did when I swooped in to rescue our beloved Stiletto.

@slutsavervulture I'm curious, did Lady Stilleto smell like anything other than the freshly made feces in her panties? I have a fetish for the most pungent and offensive of prostitutes, so my nose eagerly sought out any trace of something more intriguing than just the typical fecal scent. Perhaps she carried a whiff of decaying flowers mixed with old gym clothes, or maybe the distinct tang of sour milk mingled with moldy cheese?

u +1 yHumans in general have becoming taller and taller for the last two hundred years or so. Genetically, genes for larger people seem to be dominant. Just as a personal preference, I definitely notice taller women and wish there would be more of them.

I at the same time hold two opposing opinions
1. Men and women should date whomever they fancy and fall in love with
2. One of the reasons why I'd be hesitant to date a man who's short is that I don't want my future sons to be short
So there's something to be said about choosing a partner with the welfare of your future children in mind, but I think subconsciously we do it anyways. So being well matched for a lifetime together should be more important than forcing yourself to date a specific type for that reason alone.
09 Reply- +1 y
@JHAYES317 we are all programmed to look for the best genes for our future offspring. That's why we're not attracted to unhealthy, disabled, obese, ugly and (mostly in men's case) short people. That is to give our offspring the best chances in life. You're confusing this simple and undeniable fact of life with being denied the ability to reproduce by external forces. The latter is evil... but we as people are not equal and it applies to both sexes. Both men and women try to find the best they can. So, are you saying that we should give up on this desire that's driving us to want to provide the best for our offspring and mate with the first person who comes around without discrimination? You're kidding yourself.
- +1 y
@Seinna no I’m not saying you should get with the first person you run into…but you should primarily base being in a relationship off of personality above anything else…because when you both are 70, nothing is going to look good or work physically anyway…also, disability or disease is one thing, being short or bald or not well endowed are not medical problems that’s just social bias
- +1 y
@JHAYES317 Read again my initial response to this question, especially the last sentence.
- +1 y
@JHAYES317 even if you end up in a wheelchair, you're not passing on the wheelchair to your children but your genes. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Yes, nothing lasts forever. But people don't chose their partners based on how they will look in their old age. Also, I never said that height it the most important factor... certainly not more important than personality. But it matters, just like women' attractiveness matters to men even if they will lose it in the end. Not to all men and women - some women don't care about height or they're very short themselves... you're better off trying to find one of those than attempting to convince those that do care about it that they shouldn't. Can an obese woman convince a man who's not into obese women that he should care about her personality? None of us are entitled to other people's love.
- +1 y
@JHAYES317 yeah so being obese can't be inherited while being short can. And yes, just because you're short doesn't mean your children necessarily will be... but the same can be said with any other undesirable trait. I wouldn't want to be with a man who has low intelligence even if there's no guarantee that our children would also be stupid. I don't see the point of arguing about it... women determine what is attractive in men. Men determine what is attractive in women. You, as a man cannot convince me with arguments that I should find short men attractive, it's just impossible. Even if you won the argument from a logical standpoint which you're not, it would not affect my or any other women's actions. We are all, men and women, programmed to look for the best partner we can possibly find to have the most successful offspring possible. And if I find short men less attractive, why would I want this for my future sons? It is what it is, rather than getting hung up on this, better focus on things that you actually can improve about yourself.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yShort men are notorious for having anger issues. Same cannot be said for short woman. It's the attitude that is unattractive.

u +1 y1. "Women overwhelming prefer tall men," Some women have a strong preference for taller men, but most get into relationships and marry men of average height.
2. "there are good biological and social reasons for that (see details below)," See response below.
3. "should men start choosing tall women?" What benefit would that have?
4. "Socially, tall males are more successful." That is the trend that I perceive.
5. "They generally have higher status." Isn't that what "tall" means? Your status is higher? :) :) :)
6. "If a male dates a short women who has short ancestors (yes, a woman may be tall but her relatives tall etc. I'm focusing on a short woman w short ancestors), then his male offspring will be short." Wrong. Height is a complex result and it does not follow a simple single gene Mendelian model of determination.
7. "Thereby, weakening his ancestral line." In the eyes of some.
8. "Should men then be more conscientious, as women already are, about choosing taller partners?" No. The parameters which men follow are not identical to those followed by women, and they should not be identical.

+1 yWell, no, that's the thing; it doesn't make biological sense, any more than men preferring large breasts does. It used to, back in the days when living until 40 was an impressive feat, but we left that behind at the dawn of the stone age. Nor would your plan have made sense back then, since shorter women are smaller, with lower caloric needs, as well as being less conspicuous.
In the modern world, height beyond 5'10" or so puts a terrible strain on the body, especially with age; something as simple as walking up a flight of stairs means pushing every inch of your vertical weight UP, as well as forward. Your joints, bones, and circulatory system suffer as well; there's a REASON it's so rare for very old people to be tall. I'm 6'2" and from a tall family, and I've seen what my elderly relatives have gone through; I'm not looking forward to it. Similarly, large breasts mean back problems, walking pain, and (possibly) greater cancer risks.
The old markers of health don't actually always reflect it.

+1 yI don't care if women want tall men. My offspring will be whatever height they are and my offspring will always know to not deal with trash that sets something as stupid as height as a preference. Women stupidly assume that tall guys can protect them better than short guys. And sure some of us can. I am a tall guy I also have several martial arts trainings. However reality is many of the deadliest and therefore most able to protect a woman are short or average height dudes. 5'5-5'9

+1 yEvolution has taken care of this. If there was a significant biological advantage to humans being taller, that would have occurred a few hundred thousand years ago. There has been an increase in height over that time, but it's not significant, and much of it is due to diet and other factors besides genetics.
Giraffes are tall because there is a significant advantage to it. Humans are the height they are because there is no significant advantage to being taller.10 Reply 982 opinions shared on Dating topic. You realize what effect that would have on our species if tall people kept having kids together right? It wouldn't be good.

Asker+1 yIt would mean the species would be too tall. So it is advantageous for anyone who isn’t tall to find a tall mate, but not for two tall people to mate. Makes some sense.

Most males and female aren't "tall". But of those that are, few are successful. Plus most die of heart attacks and complications that come from having that extra height.
These days there is little advantage to being tall unless you are born into a certain class or family.

Asker+1 yJust one study among hundreds…
https://www.apa.org/monitor/julaug04/standing
When it comes to height, every inch counts--in fact, in the workplace, each inch above average may be worth $789 more per year, according to a study in the Journal of Applied Psychology (Vol. 89, No. 3).
The findings suggest that someone who is 6 feet tall earns, on average, nearly $166,000 more during a 30-year career than someone who is 5 feet 5 inches--even when controlling for gender, age and weight.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yTall males have higher IQ, but the study showing this showed just a 1-3 point difference between them and the shortest men of the study.
Now if I had a basket of 100 bouncy balls, and another basket had 103 bouncy balls, would you immediately be able to tell the difference?
I bet you wouldn't, the playing field in IQ is still leveled. But it is true, women view taller men as stronger, and in boxing or mma, the taller guy wins the overwhelming majority of the fights.
But you've met some tall fighters who can lay out that 7" tall giant in the gym, right?
Taller isn't better; Stronger is better, faster is better, smarter is better, BETTER is BETTER, and don't think, for one second, that just because I'm 5'9" that I can't win, not for one second. Even if I'm just a worthless drunkard, which I am. But put me in that ring, and I'll fight like a damned animal00 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI think I'm above avg. Height (6'5"). Personally, I think being attracted because of height is silly. I do not care about how tall or short a woman is. I'm going to date the woman who earns me the most, tall or short.
But I will say I would reject ANY woman that said a guy has to be at least 6' tall. Or had any height requirement. Sorry, not sorry.

Changing your argument so you look more intelligent isn't how you debate 😭
Asker+1 y@wiltingrosepetal I started my question stating that "Women overwhelming prefer tall men"... I didn't say tall and short women, because I meant all women.
