3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. It just depends on the guy and where he is at in life , when I was younger, I refused to date girls’ that had kids already , but as I got older, I realized it really isn’t that big of a deal , so it just comes down to where he is in life, Some guys’ are completely against it and some aren’t , so it just depends, on his preferences of what he accepts and doesn’t accept. After I split with my wife and now that my kids , are pretty much grown up , I prefer dating a girl that doesn’t want kids , or already had kids that are pretty much grown up as well, that doesn’t want anymore. I honestly can’t see myself starting over raising a child , I been there and done it already lol. So I have no desire to do it again , even though I love kids , just not on my top to do list especially at my age now , I just want to enjoy the rest of my life and spoil myself and meet a girl that wants to spoil each other , travel and share things together , so if she has a child holding her back from doing those things? , I probably wouldn’t date her unless she has split custody than maybe lol

Most guys know better than to deal with the drama and chaos in most single moms' lives, plus a disproportionate number of these single moms have mental health issues, financial problems and/or bitterness toward men. Are there some exceptions? Sure. but they are few and far between, but it's best to avoid these potential issues, especially if you want to have (biological) kids yourself as part of a stable relationship.

Asker1 yIn my opinion it appears that it's more of an Internet problem because in real life single moms are pursued heavily
Asker1 yI live in NYC and you see it all the time. Also my brother, mother, and sister all either are currently dating single moms or someone is dating them and the relationship is thriving. Obviously nothing is 100% but all I'm saying is that it's more prominent than people are leading on.

No one is saying it doesn't happen, but single moms are the last women men want to date. And no one considers a woman whose kids are grown a single mom.
Here's a typical example of what kind of guy dates a single mom- I used to know a guy who did after he had just done a ten-year stretch in jail and had no job prospects. They even had a kid together and the guy just sat around at home while she worked two jobs. - 1 y
Oh man!! That sounds like my case … I mean… I work and my hubby is a stay at home dad 😂

I am lucky to have him in my life 😊
Toured Tokyo/mt. Fuji back in college.. instead of Tokyo, I decided to take them to Kyoto, Osaka next Sapporo.

881 opinions shared on Dating topic. i wouldn't date a single dad either. most girls my age wouldn't either i think. so i dont think it's a gender or politics thing. it's just people that are younger dont typically want that. though i think once people get to a certain age they dont care that much about that aspect

3.9K opinions shared on Dating topic. Some do and some don’t. It depends on the guy.
Some SAY they do but they’re now mature or prepared enough to handle being in a relationship with someone who has children.14 Reply- 1 y
@DishLady. This is not a "maturity" issue for men, it's a self preservation issue.
The baby daddy will forever be in the picture.
Odds are the baby momma still wants the baby daddy in her life.
The boyfriend will be the absolute lowest priority in her life.
The boyfriend will still be expected to pay for everything, including much of the kids costs.
The boyfriend will have to put up with disrespect from the child (children), and not be able to discipline the child.
If he married the single mom, (and ends up divorcing) he has a good chance of paying child support for a kid that's not his.
As for red flags, she has either already married/divorced a guy or had a child out of wedlock, both of which are red flags.
What is the upside for a man? Sex? Sex isn't enough. - 1 y
@KrakenAttackin Hmm. Fair point as to the self preservation (though maturity is still def a factor for some)... Yeah, the whole "baby daddy" factor is daunting for both the guys and the single moms they're dating -- and vice versa, by the way, for girls dating single dads.
Years ago I was actually dating an amazing guy, but several people kept creating obstacles and telling me that because I was a (divorced) single mom I wasn't "worthy" of the guy, who was "truly single" (meaning never married). Back then I was still young enough to have however many kids he would have wanted... but all the external noise got in the way and ultimately the relationship was doomed to fail. Now? He's miserably married and "trapped" (which is none of my business... he should have stood up for the right thing when he had the chance)... In my case, the upside for the guy would have been a very loving wife with the experience to know what a man needs in life, the experience and patience to manage a home -- kids and all -- and to ignore third-party "noise" ... which we all know is rather a challenge.
No, child support doesn't work that way... Paternity tests will always clear the dad of that responsibility (unless he officially adopted them in the marriage to baby momma). Unfortunately, I know this stuff inside out first-hand. I was in family court for so many years for my own divorce that the entire staff thought I was one of the attorneys 😂. - 1 y

@KrakenAttackin Oh yeah... But on the positive, I don't back down easily anymore. I used to be sweet 😂. Now... rather more sensible and really not caring about any of the noise, you know?

m 1 yI never knew it actually was a problem until I joined gag, in the real world, I know plenty guys dating girls with kids and some of those guys have kids as well. It will greatly vary between people, if you both get on what’s the problem, if she has say 5 kids and you don’t get on with them, then obviously you won’t date.
For the question, I don’t think the word WANT is accurate, no one really wants to date someone that has kids, it’s a harder dating experience, chances are she’s single, working and stressed with the extra work, so no one wants to walk into that. However, yes people will date the same person if they get on well together.

Turn it into their own "porno parody" about getting it on with a MILF
There are those who wouldn't do it on principle.
Raising another man's kids and all that
And then there's a sad minority of men who think they can't do better so they settle for the woman who settles for them because both parties are out of good options.
Pragmatically: I think a single mother is better off staying single until the kid is self sufficient.
Once the kid moves on to college or work or both. Then she becomes just a single woman.
Yes she has a kid. But she's not looking for a father.
Of course life tends to work in it's own way sometimes so there's no iron rules here00 Reply
1 yWell it’s seen as undesirable because to be in a long term relationship with her you have to raise another man’s kids. On top of that, the fact that she ended up as a single mother could indicate she made poor decisions in her past. Not all the time though, I mean widows exist for example.
So I think social media exacerbates the stigma around it, but there certainly are men out there who will be understanding and will even treat a single mother’s kids as their own. There are also single fathers—like divorced dads—who go for single mothers.

1 yIt's not social media propaganda. Men's first thoughts aren't that they want to help raise or be a part of another man's kids lives. For me... I'm 30 years old and I would not be willing to be in a relationship with a single mother unless she was PERFECT (really attractive and had a perfect personality) and she is okay to have more kids. I want kids of my own and if she's not willing, it's definitely a no. But honestly, I'd rather just not deal with that in the first place.
Only men that are older and are past that part of their lives wouldn't mind dating a single mother.00 Reply 2.3K opinions shared on Dating topic. I have turned down multiple women for that exact reason. Though I am polite and just say, "I don't think we are compatible." In reality I am often laughing inside that they would even bother to ask someone like me to consider being with a single mother. They can go after someone with very few options instead.

Asker1 yNo disrespect but at your age there aren't many women who don't have kids. Seems like you are severely limiting your dating pool.
Asker1 yThat's just your reality. In real life single moms are always in relationships so apparently guys don't mind dating them
- 1 y
In real life they have multiple SHORT TERM relationships and get used for sex or money temporarily and then the guy moves on. It is rare for them to actually get a good quality man that sticks around long term. It is often either short term, or they have to get a lower quality man. (Small, weak, very fat, poor and needs her money, past drug use or criminal record, little education, etc. are all common traits of the kinds of men they often tend to get.)
That has been what I have seen over the last 14 years of working in schools and encountering many single mothers.

1 yAs I got older I became more comfortable with the idea.
However, if I find out the biological father is still around. Count me out. Sorry.
But the amount of “single mothers” that are still fucking their kids dad even though they’re single or in a relationship with a new guy is pretty common00 Reply 2.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. It's more just online hate especially from the red pill community. I know lots of moms that were single moms then found their current husband's/boyfriends.
