Are letters romantic in this day and age?

I recently contacted an old 'friend' with whom we argued three months ago but we haven't reconciled until early September. Since then, we've messaged pretty much every day, even agreeing to send letters to each other (we both posted our letters on the same day).

Don't get me wrong, we both talk to each other about our love lives in detail and other stuff too, so we are friends for sure. But, is this normal to exchange addresses, because we did flirt back and forth and then just lost touch. I have exchanged addresses with other friends, and it was platonic. But in this case, it feels a little romantic, and just wondering if I am overthinking it or not.

I think you're right to wonder if there's something more going on between you guys. Flirting and then losing touch for months just to reconnect so intensely... def sounds like feelings could be involved on his part. And why else would you be sharing personal addresses?

My advice would be to just go with your gut. Pay attention to how he talks to you - is it just friendly catching up or does he say anything hinting at wanting to see you again? Letters are like, next level personal so I'd take it as a good sign he's into you!

Maybe try light flirting back through your replies and see how he responds. If he seems into it, maybe suggest meeting up for coffee so you can really find out what's going on between you two. Worst case, it stays just friendly pen pals. But girl there could be some romance blossoming here! Keep me updated!

I think writing letters is still very romantic! We live in the digital age, but these old methods do warm hearts. The burnt-edge letter thing is really nostalgic and very emotional. Just think, someone takes the time to prepare that letter for you with its burnt-edge and beautiful words... It literally hits your heart like an arrow. In the age we live in, such things are becoming more valuable because it is a rare gesture. Maybe texting is fast and easy, but it cannot provide the excitement, texture and memory that a letter gives. Taking such a step in your relationship will always be unforgettable!

Writing letters are far more personal and sensual vs an email or text. Writing a letter comes from your heart and your hand, you can't tell tone from an email, but you can get a sense of what the other person is thinking and feeling by watching their pen strokes on the paper. I've spent time in Iraq and Afghanistan where writing letters was the only to communicate friends and family.

While old school, there is just something about opening the mailbox and there is a letter for you, a handwritten one.
You understand the time spent writing it vs texting something, to write out the envelope and put a stamp on it and put it in the mailbox.
A letter is something you can hold in your hands and re-read it often, keep it and cherish it.
