I'm a writer, so I don't have any trouble coming up with what to say, though I don't usually tell the girl that because I don't want her to think it's easy. I used to write them many years ago. I would just sit and write and fill up a couple of pages. I had a long distance relationship and we hardly ever saw each other. There was no internet or video conferencing and phone calls were very expensive. I would seal the envelope and write a couple of lines of poetry or song lyrics on the back and stick it in the mail.

Years ago my wife and I were both in the military. She was going on a short deployment and I wrote a whole bunch of little love notes and packed them in her stuff. For the 2.5 weeks she was gone, she found at least 1 love note every day and sometimes more. They were in the pockets of every piece of clothing she had, make up bag, note book, uniform pockets etc. Made her smell and think of me every day. Her coworkers kept asking her what she got for a note each day. She stoll found more notes after she came home.
It was time well spent planning the notes and stashing them.
