I’m posting this anonymously in case she’s on here. I’ve tried being straightforward about this, but I have a friend who means well, but has a tendency to butt herself into her friends dating lives. My last relationship was about a decade ago and it ended badly, so now I’m admittedly overly cautious about dating. I made a few halfhearted attempts at getting back into dating, but never had any luck. I think a lot of my problem is that I meet a lot of guys who ask me right off the bat how I feel about them or if I want to kiss them right away, which I get. They want to gauge my interest before they decide to proceed but in the early stages I’m really not sure what I’m feeling romantically and I’m definitely not sure how I feel about them sexually (I have to feel emotional and romantic attraction first before I even think about sex). My is dead set on me getting a man. She keeps telling me “fuck feelings, just get laid and you’ll feel differently about sex” (I’ve had sex before, got dumped immediately after and got hurt so I don’t want to repeat that). She even went as far one day as taking my phone out of my hand while I was talking to a guy I met on an app and asking him out on my behalf, which then resulted in him telling me in full detail about all the sexual stuff he wanted to do to me, so needless to say I blocked him. She also tells me “if you’re not feeling it right away just fake it and the feelings will come eventually”. I feel like that’s really bad advice though. It’s very rare that I fall for a guy and if I do like him, I’ll let him know. It’s too exhausting for me to pretend I like a guy when I don’t but when I tell her this she’s just like “well you’re 40 and single so I don’t know what to tell you then”. Yes I’m 40 and single, but contrary to popular belief about women my age I’m not desperate or anxious to get into a relationship or marriage. Am I wrong for not lying? Or is she right?

Don’t listen to your friend , you do what you feel is best for you , it’s your life and your decision on whether you want to date or not , not your friends’ decision whatsoever, if she doesn’t like your decision, that’s her problem , not yours. So when you feel ready to meet someone or date someone, you will know when you feel ready , especially if you meet the right person for you
There is a saying about women giving each other dating advice and I can't remember it. But the advice women give each other is usually so bad you wonder what this friend truly wants. 😂re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft
