I like to think of myself as a mirror when it comes to relationships. I try to reflect back what I'm given. No one has to care about you in life. And when somebody takes the time to care it's a valuable thing. But nobody should have to jump through hoops for someone's approval.

It means he's only interested in sex, and he's being honest and setting that expectation right up front. Don't expect to change his mind if you catch feelings because you will probably get hurt and then end up accusing him of "using" you. I see it all the time.
