There are some women who can't medically have children and when it comes to dating everyone has a preference for that. Some people are happy to be single and some are happy to be partnered.

There are 9 billion people on the planet and I don't there's this one person for someone. If that's the case why do people remarry after a divorce and so on? Do I believe in soulmates and twin flames? No.

No, I don't think they're selfish. I have seen several versions of this question (asked by both men and women). To be honest I have the same reaction every time.

I find it disturbing, that anybody could possibly feel that this was selfish. I just cannot get my head around the mentality that could even conceive of having children as a matter of "selflessness?" Or conceive of not having kids, as possibly selfish.

Those concepts, are just... not the right way to look at having kids. There's no duty or obligation to have kids. There is nothing selfish about not having kids. For whatever reason (medical, choice, circumstance, etc).

It just doesn't compute for me how anybody could wonder this.

I remember the first time someone ever asked me this. It was my buddy Andrew, and we were at the pub. I was literally blown away by the question. Just... confused. Like what the hell are you talking about? How can that be selfish? That doesn't even make sense. Selfish to the harm of who? The hypothetical child you might have had?

That's a line of an argument that condoms and birth control shouldn't exist. They would selfishly deny those pregnancies.

It makes me feel terrible that anybody wonders this; or feels somehow guilty for not having children. I don't think it's selfish.

Can't see why it would be selfish for women to not carry out the biological purpose of humanity when there are already too many naked apes on the green globe.
