Beside the fact that a lot of women see men as a cheque, a lot of women have kids and see the children as there own instead of the father's and mothers child.
I know way to many woman that are fine with raising children by themselves. Which I would say is a sign that we've reach the point where the nuclear family is done.

being okay with raising a child on your own is not being selfish, it's being responsible and in a sense selfless, because you are giving up a lot of your social life. and if the father is not in the picture, ofc it's only their child.

wife material is an outdated concept because women are now able to build a good life on their own without the help or consent of her husband. women are tired of being objectified to 'the wife', who is someone serving her husband, having babies and has no rights of her own, and are now starting to take control over their own life and decisions. it's not selfish, it's having the ability to make choices for yourself.
