I (F, 35) started dating a guy (M, 31) recently and we made things official about a week ago. He flew twice internationally to meet me in person and date me before we were together. And he talks very romantically about our future plans, blueprint, and being 100% committed.
But his actions don’t match his words, and I’m not sure if I’m overreacting or seeing real red flags.
Here’s what happened:
- I found out he was still active on Tinder around the time we made things official, even though he told me he would delete his dating apps.
- I also noticed he keeps following new random girls on Instagram.
- When I created a fake private IG account to check, he tried to follow it back immediately (thinking it was just another girl).
- Meanwhile, my real account cannot see his stories, but my fake account can.
- When I asked, he insisted it was a “glitch”; he said he’s not trying to hide anything from me.
- He says he always follows back anyone who follows him, but that isn’t true — he doesn’t follow back my married friend but my fake account (looks like someone beautiful and single)
- When I confront him calmly, he avoids giving clear answers.
-At the same time, he sends very sweet, romantic messages saying things like:
he’s “fully committed,”
“no dating apps, no distractions,”
“I found a 10/10 connection,”
talking about future trips together,
saying he likes that we don’t play “silly games,” etc.
His words sound perfect, but his behavior feels inconsistent and secretive.
My question is:
-Do you think this is a bad sign about his character?
-Is this someone you would give another chance to?
-Or is it better to walk away early rather than try to fix something that already feels off?
Would love honest opinions from both men and women.
Do you think I was controling or I did something normal every girlfriend would do?
