Do shy or socially awkward girls reject guys they like, and should he try again later?

I mean you’re welcome to try if you want but if I were you I wouldn’t and for a few reasons. One, I personally find it annoying when certain men can’t accept rejection and treat our “no” like some sort of obstacle course, mental illness, lapse in judgment, or anything other than a sound-minded decision just because they want what they want. This is all about you and your desire, no consideration for her decision and that’s very selfish.


Two, if you’re right and she is socially awkward, then so you understand how hard it had to be internally for her to say no in the first place? It took me years to get comfortable saying no to people and not feeling like I had to over-explain why I’m saying it. It’s awkward, uncomfortable and a bit distressing as people who don’t like the idea of confrontation. So for you to come back and present that question again as if she made a mistake would likely make her feel backed into a corner, and not wanting to have the guilt or discomfort of turning you down again. I don’t think you’d want her or anyone else to agree to a date under those circumstances.


Lastly, she is capable of saying NO for a reason. Just because you aren’t privy to certain aspects of her personal life, even on social media, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I’ve been in a relationship for 4 years now and don’t post about it at all, it isn’t everyone’s business. It could even be as simple as not wanting to date someone she works with or sees at work, within the friend group, or whatever circumstances this is taking place under. She could be busy with life and doesn’t want to prioritize a new relationship. Or, she just very plainly may not be into you.


So like I said, the decision is yours but ultimately I wouldn’t do it.

In this day and age, if a girl likes a guy romantically, she needs to show and reciprocate any interest he gives. Men are being bombarded with messaging from film, TV and social media about Respecting women, toxic, masculinity, no meaning no, the patriarchy, aggressive behavior, mansplaining, etc. (not commenting on these, just pointing it out) The result is that men are very leery of coming across as creepy in pursuing a girl whether or not she is shy if she’s already told him no. I know that’s my response automatically now. The stakes are just too high to play games. I think this is going to apply to women in general at a certain point.

No! You offer, if she turns you down you NEVER offer again. If she wants to go out with you and changes her mind, the burden is on HER now to do the asking. If she doesn't want to do that. Then she does not deserve you.
