@LazerBean there’s some truth to what you are saying, but it’s not the whole truth. Social media has blown a lot of expectations up. Every woman has countless men in their messages willing to do whatever for them. This has given even the most average woman highly inflated ego’s. A lot of women now are expecting a man to take them all over the world, and since there’s a man willing to do it, why wouldn’t she. Although they probably won’t be overly attracted to him & most likely will just be using him since she won’t actually like him for him.
While I do agree that social media has inflated a lot of women's expectations, I think the it is also true and much more played out in reality that the amount of women who expect a man to take them all over the world, or even me a sole provider, is extremely overplayed. Otherwise there would be LESS married women working rather than more. The average woman today knows that they expected to work while married and does so.
You mean "pretending to be willing to do everything for women". Remember those are just words and men where a mask for about 90 days. That's when it's "Showtime" aka honey moon phase is over.

@Chayce it's all conditional and none of those men actually marry any of those women because those men in particular are only after one thing. Men chase after most women if she's half way decent so it's not an ego boost really. Men are always after the next best thing or so they assume where as us we are pretty content with a loyal, loving and financially stable spouse

So she marries him for his resources while sleeping with someone else on the side. And women are hypergamous in nature. They always have a heap of options to choose from. But they usually go for the man with the highest status within their reach that other women want as well. It reaffirms that he’s a catch. Women don’t want to win in life themselves, they want a winner.
That is what we call a false dichotomy. Attractiveness is just different to be so easily categorized. I relatively tall at 6 2 am not disfigured in any way. Have a career that is lucrative but get turned down as much as the next guy. I think those ideas like a lot of stereotypes have a splinter of truth. But are really only true for the most superficial of people looking for some type of relationship.
Definitely women's. Women's standards today aren't even high, certainly not as high as in the past. But so many mens standards are just so low that it's no competition, all you have to do is have a hole for them
@LazerBean How. In this day & age where women aren’t expected to be trad wives the way they used to be, you better be doing something more than the average male is doing. There’s no room for mediocrity for men these days. And with the wealth of knowledge we have access too these days, it’s just not happening.
I mean, the average wife works full time and still does the majority of home and child care, so really they are doing more than men today. There is more room for mediocrity in men today than ever. Today they are more unkept, less fit, more poorly dressed, work less, and provide less than even just the 70s. That's why boomers of both genders tend see men today as weak and basically women. Not to say that women are much better, but wife providers have triples since the 70s. As has households where both spouses earn around the same amount, meanwhile husband sole providers has halved.
@Nikki1989 Though I understand your point, I can't totally agree with it. Having been through a divorce, we guys can lose a lot, while you girls can gain a lot.

As a group, women are almost always more picky than men, in any situation.
Sometimes, a woman's dating standards are so high that no normal man can satisfy them.
We guys do like a woman with good looks, but that's not the only thing that attracts us guys.

Men have higher expectations about looks. I'm not proud to say it, but I only find about 10% of women over 40 physically attractive.
I have no expectations about income or height, but I know men want good looks.

Men tend to have higher standards. You see plenty of old, wrinkly, ugly men who are only looking to date a woman 15-20 years younger.
