Red Flags I Need to Pay Attention During Job Search

1. Salary of $50,000 & Above

I see salary of $50,000 & above as a major red flag because it comes with reduced time to dedicate to my hobbies & compromised work-life balance. Hence, I will only accept an offer from a company that will pay me less than $40,000 to have more free-time.

2. Requires Relocation

I see a job which requires relocation as a red flag because I value close bond with my friends over experiencing growth in new location. Therefore, I will turn down an offer from a company that requires relocation to keep my friendship intact.

3. Supervisor(s) with Incompatible Personality

I see supervisor(s) with incompatible personality a major problem because it will lead to higher stress at work. Thus, I will decline a job offer if I know I won't get along with a hiring manager during an interview.

Incompatibility Between Boss & Subordinate

4. Offers Promotion

I see a company that offers promotion a red flag because I'm not interested in gaining new responsibilities at work. Therefore, I will decline an offer from a company that offers promotion to minimize stress in my life.

I am doubting that you have been out in the working world very long. I know people working from home for International top 10 stock exchange companies making 70,000 to 500,000 a year. They actually travel because they can work remotely. I have both City and State government friends that make 40,000 to 250,000 a year and they are not going anywhere. Yeah I suppose if you’re happy spending the rest of your life in the same place doing the same thing. I go crazy in no time without new challenges, new opportunity, new scenery and more money. And I’m making over 100k to work half the year so 🤷‍♂️

My bonus is a lot bigger than your $50,000 redline. I worked 37-42 hours a week most of my career with some exceptions. I had time as I had key skills and could do what I wanted much of the time. Get key skills, it changes everything.
