The #metoo climate creates a stigma around men doing jobs like massage therapy.
I was wondering if my status as a man would affect my business prospects, or perhaps enhance it? Any way, let me hear your thoughts.
Please do not worry this movement does not represent all women. There are exotic massages for both men and women yes believe it or not there are women who pay men for exotic massages this is just to let you know the market exists for male massuses although I don't know if these businesses share your fear, quite possibly I don't think there will be an impact, because the women who are for this movement are more likely the same ones who would use a female massuse to begin with. Majority of women will always want a female massuse but there are still plenty of male massuse and they are doing just fine. Personally I prefer a male massuse they are so professional, know the exact pressure to use and don't feel the need for nonsense chit chat and at the same time it's not awkward. Win win all round 😁
As long as its a job and you are not doing it for sexual reasons then why not.. Why should jobs be gender orientated. Though you being a welder you may end up with rough hands so your going to have to moisturise your hands so they are soft for massaging. I think male masseurs would be a good idea because they could ask men for advice they wouldn't get from another female... So prepare for relationship woes lol
When I receive massage, I always get it from a female. That's because at that time, I'm naked, with just a towel on me, and I feel a little awkward having a guy run his hands up and down my naked body. But the main reason is, when getting a massage, sometimes I get hard, and it would be very embarrassing if I got hard and a guy was massaging me. And no, I don't get hard because she is touching my dick. Sometimes the pressure, the touching, and the sensitivity just makes it pop up. The towel covers this, but sometimes you can tell I'm hard, and on rare occasions, she accidentally touches my dick just a little, because she thinks it's just the towel that is up that far on my belly. Slightly embarrassing, but it would be very embarrassing if a guy touched me that way.
Anyone worth their salt, knows erections just happen, I'm a care assistant and when getting men up in the morning sometimes a male having a morning erection is unavoidable. Anyone who is professional will ignore it, it might be embarrassing for you but masseurs etc are used to it and tend to ignore it. It's part of the job..
@Brokenheartedx : That's good to know.
From the sounds of the internet (yeah, I do say, the internet) it could seem risky.
The only massage I got so far in my life was an erotic massage 2 hours long and the masseuse was a young, beautiful woman. This was 2 weeks ago.

I've used a male massage therapist who is completely professional. I've never felt ogled or touched in any way that was inappropriate. He always asks if his touch is too light or too hard. If a woman is uncomfortable with a man, so be it. But I've never had any negative experience.
Thats reassuring.
If this is how a man makes his living, it behooves him to be a pro. It would be stupid to do otherwise. I always tipped my massage guy. And he was little skinny guy who could push my body THROUGH the table. I'd tell him that too... PUSH ME THROUGH THE TABLE. And he'd laugh... I felt like a noodle when he finished!!!
I think they deserve the same opportunities and work as female massage therapists. BUT a lot of women and some men prefer female masseuses. I would prefer a woman personally since it is a pretty intimate activity. But if I'm comfortable with the guy doing it, it isn't a problem. It really just depends who you talk to.
My boyfriend is a massage therapist and is extra conscientious with female clients because he wants to make sure they know that he is 100% professional. I tend to prefer a male masseuse over a female (even when I don’t know them) because I feel like men tend to have more muscles and go deeper/harder in the massage which I like.
Earlier this year, I had to go to urgent care because I had a period that lasted three weeks. I could not care less that the doctor examining me was male. I was in so much pain and still bleeding, that I wanted a competent doctor.
Not every woman fakes allegations of sexual assault. To me it's like an internet thing I never really seen like that in real life if that makes sense. I don't think it should affect your work and if you didn't do it then why would it?
Male massage therapists rock, their hands tend to be bigger and way stronger in my experience.
It only takes one disgruntled female customer to ruin everything and land you in prison so...
Is this really a question
Have you read the description? Its about if there is a stigma that can negatively affect my business prospects
