Should I chose Spanish 4 or German 1?

Hi, last year I had lessons of Spanish 4. I got bored of Spanish and my schedule was tight. I had begun a new program in college and I could not much Spanish, because there were always new teachers every year and then I did not learn so much before. So I decided to skip Spanish to catch up on the new program I had started in. I was not smart and I figured out too late that Spanish 4 could give me merit points. Also, it could help me get a higher grade, even if I had a low grade. My friends had already been in that course but now I am late to go back but if I return next year then my friends will be gone from Spanish lessons and then it would only be people who are younger than me if I chose that course again. So I am also doubting if I should study Spanish in the summer and return back to get the merit points for the university or should I skip Spanish totally and start with German 1 who will not give me any merit points? What would you do? I hope you understand what I want to mean.

Well, Spanish is a much better choice than German simply because Spanish is much more of an asset in life than German.

Almost 5% of the world population speaks Spanish, while English is spoken by less than 1% of the world population. You get much further ahead in life speaking Spanish than German. Furthermore, Spanish grammar is easier than German grammar.

As a matter of fact Spanish language is spoken by more people in the world than English. Therefore, it would be a much better asset to you because except for Germany, Austria, parts of Switzerland and a few other minor countries, German is not readily spoken or understood while Spanish has more common Latin roots with a number of other languages.

If you speak Spanish, you can understand parts of Italian and Portuguese language as well.

Actually, I made a small mistake. It is German that is spoken by less than 1% of the world population. English is close behind Spanish.

If you are in Europe learn German, it's the language of the EU and buisness/banking. If you are in America take Spanish

Any of the languages of the 27 EU countries is the language of the EU. There are 24 official languages in the EU. German is not ranked higher than Hungarian or Swedish for example.

I do understand very well the dynamics of Germany in the EU. Germany is not only the leading nation that keeps the EU heavy and inefficient but, just like the US wants to rule the world, Germany's aim is to rule the EU world.
