Did I chose a wrong career path? I was studying for physical therapy then I stopped once I got my bachelor's? I'm kinesiologist now?

But I can't find anything in my field and I feel like I'm too late because it's been years since I graduated. 😕

I don't have a car still or moved out yet and as things keep getting expensive my bank gets emptier.

Also, my mom keeps saying that I studied a useless degree because I'm not making any money from it. She says that I wasted my time in college and I have nothing to show for it 😕😕😕

Now I'm working at a warehouse making minimum wage and I don't feel like it's enough 😒

FYI, my family doesn't want me to back to school anymore. They just want me to work and get on with my life. Like move out, be more independent, and own a car

Dog this may sound mean but you need to hear it lol if you live in a area that the degree and area of study for a major you got is not hiring! You need to venture out & find a city where it is HIRING & you're making good money for the degree that you got. Sitting there in a city working min wage with a college degree is poverty & ridiculous.

In the early 1900's during the great depression do you know what men did? They got up and found a new area & city where they could work & sent money back home just to take care of their family &, they went states away. Back then their was no internet & even the children got down and worked. Time for you to use your research skills find a city or another state that does hire you for your area study & get it going.

Also I've said this before quit listening to your mom. You're 27 and no license & no type of car whatever she's doing is holding you back and cottling you. How does your sister have more then you? Time to get it together bro as a man you can hit your head so many times but you need something to show for it.

You have a few options:

You should look into getting your PT degree. Your advisors should have told you up front that this would be required to work as a physical therapist. Biden just established a loan forgiveness program by decree, so that might help with the debt.

You can try a related field that pays better than minimum wage, like assisting in a PT office. Ask to speak with some PTs just to gather information about what kind of support they need and see if you qualify.

You can go to trade school, which is a lot faster and cheaper than college. You could find work that would pay well after an apprenticeship period, and even the apprenticeship would beat what you’re doing now.

You can continue on your current path. You will be eaten alive by inflation and it won’t help your family pay the bills and it won’t help you become independent.

well related to your degree, your degree seetms demanding, you could try to apply at hospital, fitness, gym.. etc. unlike me , I studied business. and still struggling to get a job.. we're in the same boat.. parents became toxic since we could not make a lot of money for now...

Physical Therapy is a good career path. My wife is a PT and she really likes it and is paid very well. I do not know what you would have to do to go back to school and get your degree in physical therapy. You seem like a smart kid and that is a big gift.

As for being too old, I was 40 when I changed careers and I don;t regret it. You are going to get old anyway. It would be better to get old doing something that you like and making good money.

Look, go get off your butt and go to a college that has PT as a major and talk to the dean or a counselor. They will tell you exactly what you need to do. There are many programs out there since covid that will pay for retraining. Do some research about that too. Many colleges are just hanging on by a thread so they are motivated to get students. This is a good opportunity for you.

Kinesiology is a pretty useless degree in my opinion but at least you have a degree. A lot of jobs immediately pay more just for having a degree. I’m assuming you got a bachelors? There are so many jobs that you can get a higher position just for being more than a high school graduate. My cousin is doing training for Alaskan airlines for customer service. He will get payed a lot, and if he had a degree he would make a lot more. Same with military, you could start off as an officer just for having a degree. I’d advise you to ignore your family when it comes to your career. Just be logical with your career path if you need more school or training. Don’t do gender studies or art or something weird where it’s definitely no shot at a job. You could even do healthcare with your bachelors and do nursing which would pay a lot. If you don’t want to do any schooling then I guess go work for Amazon or something.
