I recently started a new job on an initial 6 month fixed-term contract, with the hope of being kept on permanently. However, although the company have said they want to keep me on, the shifts they have offered on a permanent basis are days and hours that I just can’t do. Unfortunately these are the only shifts available (many other new starters are in the same boat), so I’ve told them I will work the remainder of my fixed-term contract, which they have agreed to honour, and then I’ll leave. So I now have 3 months left to work while looking for a new job. Although I will continue to work conscientiously and to be best of my ability, I can already feel a slump in my motivation and desire to perform to my absolute best.
So my question is - does working your notice period in a job, that you know you’ll be leaving soon, affect your motivation and desire to perform to your normal high standards? 🤔
