This wasn't saying you don't need one or the other. It's the point of which one can help more. I think book smarts are extremely important. But street smarts is a little more important it can be taken everywhere and used to your advantage if used properly
They are equally important; which one is more important depends on the situation.
For instance, which is more important? A gun or a ladder? If you are a cop, a gun is more important than a ladder. If you are a firefighter, a ladder is more important than a gun. If you are a cop that volunteers as a firefighter, you know you need both a gun and a ladder but which one is more important depends on whether you are in a shoot-out or saving kids in a burning building.
Ultimately, "street smarts" depends on 1) knowing human nature but, also, 2) what circumstances you are in. If you are in a city and from that city, knowing the traffic laws, best places to eat, where to find ________, is important. But, if you move to Nebraska, those "street smarts" aren't going to help you there. You'll be clueless as to what is important - like when does bowhunting season and when does rifle season begin - and they'd call you a "cidiot" which is a portmanteau of city and idiot. And, of course, the situation is reversed as well; take a rube from flyover country and drop them in Manhattan, and they'd freak at the idea of having to use the subway.
Book smarts - especially regarding STEM - can let you know when someone is full of shit - like the GOP - and thus make intelligent decisions.
But think about this no street smarts at work no matter the job. Your interactions with coworkers. They can easily manipulate you, or your boss can use you because you can't read his shadiness. You can take street smarts to the workplace abd apply it in a positive way to better your self. Street smarts doesn't just toughen you. It gives you wisdoms on how life works signs of people who are not got your best interests at heart. Who you can trust and who you can't. Education takes you to a certain level. But you can't apply education to your friendships it doesn't help your social skills or if your wife or husband or playin you. If your friends are playing you. So many aspects Also education can be used on the streets. a lot of uneducated kids fall for the lies because education helps you see not everything is as it seems and there are opportunities for them that isn't visible.
But at the end of the day i think 55% street smarts to 45% book smarts ratio
What you are talking about is human nature. Yes, getting an education in human nature - which take decades - is one of the two most valuable things you can ever learn. The other is to learn who you are.

I’ve never known the difference. “Nerdy” guys aren’t getting defrauded on the street. There’s a pretty clear line of educated Vs. uneducated. Period.
Spirit smarts as it transcends death, in my opinion anyway.
Street smarts didn't put a man on the moon nor will they discover a cure to cancer.
That would depend on how time you spend on the streets versus academia. LOL
You need both equally.
C Can it be age WISE? hahaha All 3 really.
I messed up anyway... so what gives, lol
I think they’re equals
street smarts for sure
You need a combo of both.
@@sanaminaa, I completely agree
