Why would a company wait until you've actually left to post your job?

I worked my 7 weeks notice and they didn't advertise for my job until 2 weeks after I'd left.

It is very likely that they hired internally. People do not make mistakes in areas like this as this would be grounds for firing in the HR department. There was a policy and procedure reason for this action. Corporate has to follow protocols as they are also regulated by government interests.

Perhaps the person responsible for that is just lazy? Or that's how that company operates.
