My parents yelled at me because I don’t amount to anything. How can I get them to understand that I don’t wanna work?

My parents are wealthy business owners and I lived a great live. I’ve always graduated high school and now I’m just hanging with friends and partying. I was working at a store from ages 16 to 19 and made my own money.

Then I worked at a restaurant for only three months and hated it because I was dealing with rude customers and the boss. So now at 22 I am just partying and hanging with friends and shopping. I just got fired from a job after working there for a year. Well I got fired six months ago. My parents are so angry at me for losing my job and told me they’re not giving me money anymore. I spend most of my money on shopping, clubbing but of course for my phone bill, electricity and internet.

I just love not having to work and get up early. Yesterday my parents scolded at me about being lazy and not applying myself more. I told them I’m done with working. They gave me business cards for other places and I refused. My parents told me I’m wasting opportunities and I purposely missed my 9am job interview on Friday.

After I refused my dad got very frustrating and said, “WELL YOU BETTER START THINKING!!! I’m getting very tired of you not applying yourselves and you’re wasting your money one useless crap like partying and shopping!” My dad didn’t have to yell at me. I almost cried.

My mom said, “Don’t give us that (puppy dog pound)! You know that doesn’t work on us. Your dad is right. All you do is party, shop and on top of that, YOU sleep in everyday until noon. You’re lazy, inconsiderate and you won’t amount to anything in life if you keep being a waste. If you can’t handle your dad or I raising our voices for you to see the picture, then you won’t be able to handle the real would that doesn’t give a damn about your feelings. Reality doesn’t care about your feelings.
