All of the managers who I worked for in my career, except for maybe one, were not as smart as me. However I never at any time pointed this out to them. Instead of showing them what they were not doing correctly, I worked as a team and accomplished change in that way. There were two cases where that would not work, so I changed jobs when I could find a new one. Making a nuisance of yourself in the long run will not go to your advantage. Your company will not want to keep you on if you are making people's lives miserable by pointing out their mistakes. Even if you are right. Best to join the team and correct the errors in a diplomatic manner.
Anon... shut up 🤣 I cannot take anonymous commenters seriously
@siri137 I don't take these anonymous commenters seriously. How insecure can they be to comment anonymously on an already anonymous site. Also, a lot of them lack reading comprehension skills.
@siri137 exactly lol it's so weird
It depends. I've worked several jobs and most managers usually know more (not about life in general but just about the job) than their employees do.
I put most managers into three categories:
1. Those who dont care about their employees and only became a manager so they could boss other people around
2. Managers who pretend to care about their employees; but do nothing to help them
3. Managers who care about their employees but are hamstrung by the company (corprate) and unable to help their employees
my manager at work is smart and very attractive and but I would say she falls somewhere between category 2 and 3. I only work about 20 ish hours per week and have told her I want to work more. She recently hired five new people who all work 15 to 20 hours per week. Why did she hire more employees instead of just giving more hours to the ones (like myself) who already work there?
I can't recall the last time I worked for someone who was cleverer than I. Supervisors are even worse than managers in my experience.
Yep, and because I am a knowledgeable worker who went to them privately about things going on that needed to be addressed they tried to get upset and be rude. Most managers who aren't intelligent will do that to the worker who is knowledgeable and well liked by the organization. Once one of the managers did that to me I started pointing out things publicly. Other coworkers tagged along. Then she left. There is one more left like her she's on her way out to. I'm just piling the work up on her one by one lol
That's rude. You should still be respectful and humble regardless if you're smarter than them or not.
Shut up anon 🤣

I'm my own manager and I'm not smarter than myself 😌
😂🤣
I used to work for someone, and I hated it so much I became my own boss 😆
Good for you they'll literally try to punish you for being smarter. I used to try to help until I realized how jealous and insecure they were towards me
I've only had a couple of managers that were more intelligent or had more common sense than me
But did they get jealous of you when you tried to help? That's why I stopped
No. My office manager is far smarter than I am. That's part of why I hired her.
Ha!! Love it. You know 50 cent said the samething. He hired Harvard graduates to write and help direct his films.
Let's put it this way - twice I have ended up with my former manager reporting to me. But I left the corporate world long ago and started my own company. Now I just report to my customers.
Nice ! That's the way to do it. How long did it take you to establish your business
Well, I've had several. Originally I ran a contracting company that installed satellite TV. I eventually had 18 trucks working for me. But the satellite companies got sued for not having their own installers, and they had to let all the contractors go.
Then I became an Audio Video Integrator. I install TVs, Audio systems, networking and WiFi, security cameras, "smart home" devices, and control/automation systems. Every job is custom so each one is a unique challenge. I've been doing this since 2012.
According to my paycheck I’m smarter than them & I make more money.
Yes, he is much younger than I am but I had run a department twice the size for many years. I did not want to be a boss anymore. I do not have an ego problem doing what he tells me to do,. He asks me for help sometimes.
Sounds like a dreadful work environment that you did not help get better
Manager is just a role. It doesn't mean they are necessarily better or worse than you. Ideally you all work as a team. Not what I'm hearing here though
🤣 the bitch is gone now and it's peaceful as hell. You didn't read accordingly.
That's unfair. Sounded like you were working on getting rid of the second one which implied it still wasn't pleasant or you were hell bent on getting rid of someone who could be ok.
Sounds pretty fair to me, lol 😆. Two people don't reflect an entire organization. Nice try anon
I have had supervisors that were so far out of touch that you couldn’t even insult them about their ignorance!
Being in charge doesn't mean you are smart
