Is it appropriate to ask for some time to think before accepting a job offer?

i have a 2nd interview at a mom & pop pool company in a few hours today i had the first interview a week ago.

the job would be scheduling visits for customers over the phone for pool equipment repairs or new items for installation. & helping customers as they walk in the door.

not sure if i will be offered the job today but i really dont want to be scheduling.

you would think the owners of the place would want to do the scheduling.

Yes. I wouldn’t immediately accept unless you’re able to immediately get the offer letter you want.

Besides most employers I know do it by phone and email after all the interviews and you’re given a start date. But feel free to negotiate. Great as, “Oh, I wished this position would have a higher salary..”

Dosen't sound like you need time, sounds like you don't want the job as advertised you can try to negotiate if offered, otherwise seems a waste of your time and theirs unless you change you mind over scheduling.

if you don't want to do a scheduling job, then decline. but jobs are becoming harder to come by these days, especially if you really really need one asap, so don't take this decision lightly.

Yes but im always too afraid to and end up settling. Its hard to get a lot of offers so i just take the first one which isn't smart

Yes. I've done that a few times. You just need to say "thank you very much. Do you mind if I take a day to think it over?" They'll normally say yes.

Wait you applied for a job whose duties were scheduling maintenance appointments but you don't want to schedule maintenance appointments? How does that make sense?

You can ask for time for sure.

I always ask for emailing me the contract and two weeks to rethink the offer.
