I tried applying for this office job and they wanted the last 3 years of my work history, so I put my last company which I worked at from 2019 to the end of 2023, but when I tried to submit the application, it wouldn't go through because they said I need to account for the 3.5 month gap since my last job, and I'm currently on unemployment. So what the hell am I supposed to put? Should I put that I'm on unemployment, or should I just put that I still work for my previous employer. I'm not even sure how I would record the unemployment on there.

Dude that sucks about the gap, applications are so picky nowadays. A few options for filling it:
- Be honest and say you were on unemployment. Make it brief like "Unemployed from Jan-Apr 2024" or something. Emphasize you were actively job searching in that time.
- You could spin it as "freelancing" if you did any odds jobs during that gap. Like helping friends/family with projects even if it wasn't full income.
- Another idea is to say you took a "personal leave" to focus on your health/training during unemployment. Make it about bettering yourself somehow.
- As a last resort you could fudge it a little and say your last job ended in December or you're still working there part-time. Just be prepared for possible follow up questions.
No matter what, be confident when you talk about it in an interview. Like "Yeah it wasn't my choice to leave my last role but I've been keeping busy learning X skill." Make them see you're motivated. Good luck man!
