It all depends in which country. A number of countries have different regular working hours.
Take the Mediterranean countries like Spain, Portugal or Italy, they tend to start work later than in the Nordic countries. As @sawno states, in the Netherlands, it seems that 08:30 to 18:30 is the norm while in Spain, the start of the day is rather 09:00 AM.
Generally, weekly working hours span between 40 and 42 hours except for France which is slightly less.
Wages in Europe are relatively low except for Switzerland, which has quite high wages compared to a French worker.

i think they have better conditions there than the US like they don't work weekends i think? it was somethin time related
8:30 to 18:00, conditions are otherwise good but pay is half of the US.
