Currently, I am putting time in (outside of work hours) to develop myself / gain new skills, otherwise I doubt future employers would want to hire me. There is little to no development at current job and workplace is toxic (gaslighting from manager, bullying, withholding of training, gossiping, etc.)
I got myself fired. I personally wouldn't recommend that until you have something else secured. Which to me, it sounds like your issue isn't the leaving part, because that's easy. Your issue is finding another job if you do leave.
I totally hear what you're saying about skills and all that stuff. Honestly, our hiring practices are shit.
And yeah, I had to deal with the same kind of shit at my old job and finally had enough. Rules are rules, I totally get that part, but I got sick of all the hypocrisy from my co-workers and new supervisor. I didn't have any problems until we got a new supervisor, and it got to the point where I just said, "Fuck it. The previous supervisors I had respect for, but with this new supervisor, it got to the point of, "If he isn't gonna practice what he's preaching, then why should I listen to him?"
You leave in a way fitting of such a place. You wait until the absolute worst time for them and then ensure you have as much of the load as possible (you want it riding on you) then make enough progress to not get in trouble and shortly before the end time destroy all the work and do not show up again. When they call demanding to know what happened you say "I have no idea it was fine when I left" when they ask if you are returning you say "definitely I'll be in tomorrow" then don't go. When they call and ask where you are you say "I am stuck in traffic" they'll figure it out eventually but until then fuck with them as much as possible
How to leave: Face the door… open it… and leave. There's no reason to be in a job that leaves you with more anxiety than it's worth.
What are you gaining from that job that you can't get anywhere else? If you can list five or more productive things about the job itself and only one or two negative things, then don't leave the job. If the list of things wrong with the job outweigh the list of benefits then just pack up your pen holster and lunchbox and leave.
Get a new job first… then say bye bye…
meanwhile… while learning the skills you need to better yourself…
also learn the skills to deal with “toxic”people… they will also be on the next job and next job and next job you go to.

Do not do anything until you have secured a new job, put up with the situation the best you can where you are now, if you have any outstanding holidays/lieu days use them, as soon as you have secured a new job hand in your notice (if you are in the UK/EU work your notice period usually two weeks - If you are in the US you might be in an 'at will' state which means you can leave immediately you hand in your notice, other states have different labour laws) below is a link to a page that runs through how to resign in the best possible way;
I just would resign or find a better job, often thanks to looking, luck, and patiently waiting. , 🙂 some would say to me I was a follly for being a quitter yet, it's not like I quit to fall asleep on the couch, I went and got another job, and a far better one. I'm always grateful for the luxury to do so, if I don't like a workplace over time or it turns sour over time, I jump ship to a much nicer 🚢⚓ ship
u Simple. Find another job, tell them that you've put in the work at your current job and are looking for more opportunities, better development and better pay, and then put in your two weeks.
You leave when you’re at the most doubtful and most scared to do so. Coz if you don’t leave now, it won’t get any better.
Either straight up quit, or find something new. If you find something new, make sure you move for the right opportunity! Move towards a good thing rather than away from a bad one (or you might just end up in the same situation)
You're doing it right. Keep it up! Gather those recommendations now though before you burn bridges. Say it's for a landlord or to go back to school or something.

Learn a base of skills and knowledge that would make you an asset to another company, apply and get hired. THEN, give your two-week notice.
Fake an injury, go see a chiropractor tell the doctor you hurt yourself at home not at work. And collect disability while you look for another job.
