I really like these 'Professor Dave Explains' videos, and not just because they're so ridiculously easy to understand that even a flat-Earther could understand them. He doesn't try to hide his contempt for these uneducated, foolish clowns.
Flat earth theory did start as a troll. However, most people are stoopid and even people with average intelligence are sometimes easily fooled. Being fooled has less to do with intelligence and more to do with how inherently trusting a person is. When bad information comes from a perceived reliable source, there’s little to no challenge to new information. This is essentially the only reason the mainstream media is still in business, in my opinion. They’re profiting from ignorance and trust.
People who live with trust issues won’t fall for as much nonsense, but we also don’t live very long. Vigilance has its drawbacks.
If the earth is so round, why aren't we upside-down in Antarctica and sideways in Africa? Look how they're laid out of the globe.
We know from history science has got some stuff wrong and a small number of people who were once thought to be idiots are now held up as geniuses and great thinkers.
Therefore all major beliefs now must be wrong and If you side with those on the fringe, such as flat earthers, you must actually be a genius that society will one day recognise and apologise to.
Remember, proof is all about numbers. There's only a few dozen geography books out there but there's thousands of memes Therefore more evidence of a flat earth.

Before it was known that the earth was round, people were saying that the earth was flat, but science has refuted this and proven that the earth is round, because when you start from a point, it is understood that it is round because you come to where you started. If there are people in this age who say that the earth is flat, they are ignorant, do not ignore them.
I think some sincerely believe it while others are just grifters earning money online through their proselytizing. It's also attractive to a lot of people to know the alleged " truth" that nobody else supposedly has.
The notion that people thought the earth was flat is a nonsense. Certainly after people had boats they knew the earth was curved.
It started as a 4chan troll. Now stupid people believe it.
