Sorry but i may like some songs but i think she's pretty f*cked up
I am not a fan of Nicki Minaj, and I never have been. We could be in the same store together, and while others are greeting her, I would honestly just walk past. I don't think she is a good role model. I have heard some of her songs. There is cussing, and a lot of bad words, which I am personally not comfortable with. I don't look up to her.

I don't hate her nor do I like her. As for a role model I will definitely not follow her. Her music is very inappropriate in my personal opinion and lately a lot of girls are beginning to copy her dance moves which shows a lack of respect.

Yes, it does... The only thing that is getting her respect is fame, if she didn't have it I can guarantee you nobody will respect her, which correlates with lack of self-respect. Observe any normal girl who dances like her and please tell me what kind of result she has to live with
I don't disrespect her, I just don't care for her music, because as loud of an advocate for self-betterment her words may be, her music speaks louder, and it always pits women as "bitches and hoes", like much of the hip-hop genre does. Even if she just does it because it sells, it nonetheless is promoting the message.
What I don't like about Nicki Minaj is what her career trajectory says about us as a society.

The fact that she had to dress like a bimbo just to get her career off the ground is a terrible reflection of today's values. We can't hate Nicki Minaj, we made her.
Eh. I feel exactly the same way about guys who are rocker types at heart, but who got "respectable" haircuts and started wearing starchy suits to get THEIR careers off the ground in fields like finance or law.
In fact, if you don't feel MORE strongly about those guys than about Nicki, you're basically a hypocrite.

I never considered her an artist just like a lot of other people in the crappy music industry today. True artists are from the 60s,70,80, and early 90s bands like the smiths, the cure, depeche mode, the doors, pink floyd those are real artists.
Plenty of "true artists" exist today, not their fault that you only focus on mainstream artists.
How do i focus on mainstream artist lol music today doesn't have the elements of true music instuments are becoming a thing of the past now and most artists today talk about the same crap over and over having money, getting quote "bitches" hustling I've heard over and over music died early 2000s. It's sad i wish i was a teenager in the 80s so many awesome bands but sadly it didn't happen and there are good artists out there who don't get enough recognition because crappy artists are be exposed to everybody on the radio so much it sucks.
Because you're acting as though artists today don't focus on the lyrics, the meanings and the instruments. Plenty of them do, they're just not as well-known as pop artists. If you did some digging on soundcloud, you could easily find some less well-known artists who fit just your tastes.
I do lol lyrics have evolved over the years less and less meaningful in the past few years its become more and more. Why doesn't the mainstream radio stations play heavy metal or new wave music? New wave is one of the best genres out there yet a lot people are unknown of it's existence why? Most people who are not brainewashed would agree with me on this.
Because they're the mainstream radio. You'll find heavy metal and new wave music on heavy metal and new wave channels.

Get over yourself and learn to deal with the fact that your tastes aren't actually better than anyone else's, they're just different. Honestly I used to do the same thing with the whole "I don't listen to pop music and that makes me better" thing, but then I realized that that's idiotic and just kinda shitty. People are different and you just gotta accept that.

I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. Maybe you prefer older bands to modern ones. But that doesn't mean modern music is not as good, it just means you don't like it as much. All I'm asking you to do is recognize that your opinion is not the end-all be-all, and that if there are people who by and large prefer modern music and dislike older music their opinions are valid too.

I rather like a lot of music nowadays. Dar Williams, Blackmore's Night, Cake, Barenaked Ladies, and They Might Be Giants are all bands who have a lot of music I like. Plus Hamilton's pretty fantastic all around. But that's just stuff I particularly like, there's tons of artists who have talent and make music people like who aren't so much to my taste, but that doesn't mean they're actually just bad.
@cipher42 Well alright I'll respect your opinion, i love the 80s music and I'll admit some artists are bad from that time however most of the artists are good from that era especially new wave artists.
