On August 5, 1962, at the age of 36, Marilyn Monroe was found dead by her housekeeper in her LA home. According to the coroner’s autopsy report Monroe overdosed on Nembutal ,a barbiturate -which is a sedative and sleep-inducing drug to treat chronic insomnia.Surprisingly ,there was no evidence of pills in her stomach ,and there was no glass of water by her bedside. It was assumed the drugs must have got into her system via an injection. Although there was no needle marks on her body. When the undertaker picked up her body he noticed she had advanced rigor mortis, and estimated her time of death around 10:30pm. However, there has always been conflicting times surrounding her death.Over time, many conspiracy theories have emerged surrounding the death of Marylin Monroe.Still today, questions about how and why she died remain.

Monroe was having an affair with John F. Kennedy, and he killed because he feared she'd expose their affair. This would've tarnished his image, and put his political career in jeopardy.Monroe was also having an affair with J.F.K's brother, Robert Kennedy. Robert confided in her about secret government information and she recorded this information in her secret diary. After the pair coldly cut her off and dropped her, she threatened to go public and hold a press conference to “blow the lid off the whole damn thing.” So Robert Kennedy killed her because she knew too much political information.

One theory is that Monroe’s death was ordered by the CIA to get revenge on the Kennedy's for their failed invasion of Cuba. Subsequently, her death would be another blow to the Kennedy family. Another theory is; the CIA killed her because she knew of their plans to kill Fidel Castro -then Prime Minister of Cuba (from 1959 to 1976)- (He was a communist revolutionary,and eventually became President of Cuba -from 1976 to 2008) .They killed her in order to silence her.A third theory is; the Kennedy's ordered the CIA to have her killed to protect their political career and reputation.Also, a retired CIA agent confessed on his deathbed that he killed Monroe.He alleged she was having an affair with Fidel Castro .And because the Kennedy's gave her knowledge of highly classified information,the CIA killed her to prevent her from passing on strategic information to the communists.

All her life she'd been rejected and abandoned by people she cared about. She was emotionally unbalanced, and had no family support. Monroe developed mental health problems,anxiety and chronic insomnia.This led to a reliance on sleeping pills.So she attended psychotherapy to work through her unresolved issues.Her Psychiatrist ,Dr. Ralph Greenson, prescribed, Nembutal - a barbiturate to treat her Insomnia. However, few doctors prescribe Nembutal for insomnia these days, due to the high risks of addiction and the dangers of overdose. Prior to her death ,she had been admitted to a psychiatric clinic and underwent many therapy sessions. Monroe had attempted suicide four times in the past.So after her death, it was assumed she had ended her own life because she'd simply just had enough.
