Songs Throughout My Secondary School Years

SpiderManFan2002

My day off of college is tomorrow, and I'm listening to some music. It's late at night over here, and I'm feeling a little bit nostalgic so, why not write something about secondary school because even though I'm loving college, I just look at this time last year and think about how different it was.

Anyways songs, I started secondary school in September 2014, that feels like a lifetime ago.

2014-2015 (Year 7)

I look back at this song and I'm like: "Woah, this was an annoying song" but at the time I first listened to it for some reason- I really liked it. Maybe it was because it was one of those songs which was playing everywhere, haha.

The music video to this was weird. I didn't understand then, and I don't understand it now. But regardless of that, I still think this is a good song- it's Sia, and her voice THE POWER of her voice. xD

I know Frozen came out back in 2013, but, I didn't see it straight after it came out I saw it about a year after it came out and I fell in freaking love with the film. I grew obssessed with it, I even had Elsa PJs and Olaf slippers. I still love the film and the songs today, but nowhere near as much as I did back when I was obssessed with it. Also I can't wait for Frozen 2 this November. :P

2015-2016 (Year 8)

I was obssessed with this when it came out too. And it was the first time I discovered Shawn Mendes. And I laughed at him getting battered by literally nothing. It was a really good catchy song, and I have some awesome memories which come flooding back to me when I listen to it.

Again, I'm guilty of being obssessed with this song. I literally used to sing this everywhere, I even hummed it in class whilst doing my work. And we used to sing it on the way to school. I love this song it's nice and calming and it also brings back nice memories.

I LOVED Sabrina Carpenter throughout my secondary school life, because she was Maya on Girl Meets World and I loved that show. And then I really liked her music too, anything she sung I listened to. So just another song which brings back good memories for me.

2016-2017 (Year 9)

Another catchy Shawn Mendes song. I wasn't overly obssessed with this one but when I think of this song, I think of Year 9, so yeah, it was a catchy song and brings back Year 9 so that's why this gets a place on the list.

This song gets a place on the list because again, I loved Sofia Carson because of Descendants and the babysitting movie she did with Sabrina Carpenter and at the time this song came out, it felt like it really meant something to me (as cheesy as that sounds) and I remember in PSHCE class Year 9, we got told to write down a song which we love and we believe has meaning and this just came out at that time, and it "spoke" to me, so I wrote this.

Oh wow. This one. I cringe now, looking back at it- but when this came out, I had it on repeat literally, I just clicked loop on YouTube and listened to it for hours. 14-year-old me was strange, I know. I even thought the rapping was like- out of this world😂

2017-2018 (Year 10)

Okay I thought this then, and I'm thinking this now but this song was and is amazing. Like Zendaya and Zac Efron. Wow. I just loved it then, and I love it now, and the rope stuff was amazing and it's such a nice song, and it's like Troy from High School Musical grew up and met Rocky from Shake It Up and excuse my fangirling but- this is amazing.

Another song which I put on loop. I also laughed at his dancing because it was funny but at the same time he tried so hard so I felt kind of bad, but he probably earned millions from this song, so then I didn't feel bad. It just gets stuck in my head, and I remember singing this with my friends in English class and the teacher judging us, so that's a nice memory.

Another Sabrina Carpenter song, which for some reason I really really loved at the time. I mean it's a catchy song and all, and I'd still listen to it now- but I remember listening to it the first time, and getting so hyped and gasping like I'd just won a million quid or something. But this was a good song anyway and for some reason gives me winter vibes? I can't explain that one.

2018-2019 (Year 11)

Okay so I remember being so hyped about this song, and Miles. And I still listen to it and have no shame in it. It's just a nice song, like a 3am type song. I listened to it throughout the whole of Year 11, and am still listening to it in college. This is one of those songs I'll never get sick of.

The video to this was funny, and I actually understood the chorus. After I looked at the lyrics, but I listened to it after and could hear the lyrics properly and I think the wording was really clever, and it just reminds me of me telling my friends how ugly venom is back in Year 11, and my English teacher was like "who is that" and we tried to explain it to him, but he just didn't get it. Good times. :P

This is a bop. I remember listening to this when exams were happening and to the first line I was like "uhhhh same" but at the same time it was kind of motivational and Naomi Scott has SUCH a good voice, and this is just such a powerful song.

Ending:

I hope you enjoyed this fun little MyTake, there are other songs which I wanted to add but for some reason, I only wanted to add 3 songs per school year, so I might make a part 2 with the other songs.

Honestly, Year 8, was like my most memorable year of music purely because I listened to everything on loop and had some really cheesy Disney Channel songs I listened to. I still have the playlists too. I might actually go through them, and see what I listened to and face palm at my younger self, as I do.

Anyway thank you for reading and goodnight! :) <3
