Insidious 1 and 4 are the best movies of the saga!

The main character (In my opinion)

Elise is the glue that brings the stories for this saga together or at least clarifies it for the audience. The movies between these two briefly forgot that and that's why they are not as memorable or great in my opinion.

She introduces all the villains and explains anomalies or strange "health" conditions. In a movie about supernatural beings we need a psychic to explain things. One thing I hate is when a movie dumps a lot of backstory information in text at the beginning of the movie. I want the movie to explain itself through its characters and or plot. Elise helped with that. I know they said they weren't planning on making anymore of these movies sometime ago but... If they do, they should put a character in place that takes on Elise's job. I think jump-scares, incoherent plot, and the way villains enter a scene is why the between movies were not good. A short sufficient character explanation by an important character will tell viewers why the villain should be feared and shows the audience subtle signs of when the villain is near or going to attack.

You may be right. I didn't like the Darth Maul looking character at the end of 3. I liked the origin story in 4. Wasn't expecting that.
