It’s weird that anyone even mentions race when being cast for a role in a fiction movie. Who gives a shit what race James Bond is? As long as it’s a good movie and he’s a good actor… nothing else matters, at all.
Well, just mentioning Bond's make believe race caused all of this. I am not suggesting changing his race for folks who are angry over the change. When a person is concerned about race, then they are concerned about race. There isn't any room for negotiation. I think for the rest of us, it forces the conversation in a direction not previously discussed.

No one has been cast. There has been no decision made. People were just playing around with the "Black" Bond casting because a few years back he was voted "Sexiest Man Alive". There isn't much discussion about having an Asian bond. The funny thing is, you are one of the few posters that has even commented on that.

Well, the reasoning is thus: Mexico was colonised by the Spanish. Spain is in Europe. Europe is (or at least "was") white. Therefore Mexicans are white.

Yes race is stupid. But whites having the majority of opportunities means we have the ability to change it.
And perhaps stop changing the actual race of real characters. That's all I am trying to say. If a movie changed the race of Howard Hughes, John F. Kennedy, George Washington. . . I mean, I get it, even I would be upset.
But I will never understand how in fantasy land. . . race has to be real. That's the place we run to to get away from the silliness of everyday life.
James Bond is real? Yes historical figures should be kept as accurate as possible (though how many times has POC been whitewashed by white actors?). But fictional characters…are fictional.
I see no reason to race swap any franchise movie character. They could just as easily make a new spy character who happens to be Asian or black.
How is it race swapping? And why does his make believe race matter over what the reality of the character's British background?

it is beyond weird. It is beyond crazy. I mean racism is an American thing. But even most Americans are not this insane when it comes to racial issues. They can actually opine about Bond being Asian or some other ethnic grouping.

The actor you posted the picture of above. He's clearly Indian, not "black". That much is obvious to anyone who isn't blind or stupid. It's possible he's from Central Asia, one of the "stans", because I don't know the actor and have never heard of him before. I'm basing what I know on that single photo there.

Some of the movies were off. But Craig was a top notch Bond. And his first one, Casino Royale, is a masterpiece.

'Casino Royale' was perhaps one of the worst of the lot, and the actor - Craig - probably the worst. As my brother pointed out, "He looks Russian!" I guess the Craig Bond is now a double-agent. :)

Rotten Tomatoes? It is ranked fourth. Typically accepted as Craig's best effort and among one of the best Bond movies ever.

Apparently you believe their opinions are actually worth considering, and that 'Rotten Tomatoes' is isn't an unbelievably unreliable and biased source of information when it comes to ranking films. The reviewers get PAID to praise some films and criticise others. You did know that didn't you?
@Rachelspiks Yeah, they are called critics because that's their job. They review films. But you can look at highest grossing Bond films if you want. Casino Royale is still ranked fourth. You see the issue is you can just say you disliked the film.
But there is no internet troll who can do that. Internet trolls always have this make-believe crowd of folks who agree with them. When almost no one else does, except other online trolls.
