I wonā€™t lie, I slick hate making mytakes about films because people start recommending films rather than giving their reviews of the films listed. If you havenā€™t seen any of the 10 films below, please just say so and letā€™s leave it at that. If youā€™re interested in giving them a go, great! But feel free to make a totally separate question post if you only came to RECOMMEND films to watch and I will be happy to check that out.

P.S. if you feel this mytake is ā€œtoo longā€ just know, no ones asking you to read it in one sitting... You donā€™t even have to read it at all... But if you to partake in the review experience, please simply pick out the films youā€™ve seen so we can compare our thoughts on those films. Thank you in advance. šŸ™

THE MENU

Surprised tf out of me. I wouldnā€™t have paid to see it, but it was good for tv. Ralph Fiennes took Voldemort to a whole different level... Some ā€œNext Level Chefā€ shit. He made Gordon Ramsey look sane. I mean, do you want to eat first and die later? Its not a great film but its definitely different and Iā€™d recommend at least one watch. I watched it twice in a day lol.

THE CAPTIVE

Okay so Iā€™m like the only person who doesnā€™t find Ryan Reynolds funny, but I do enjoy him in more serious roles like Life and Buried. (Unpopular Opinion- I actually liked Wade in Xmen Origins Wolverine who just kept his mouth shut and focused on killing).

Anyways, The Captive is pretty sad because heā€™s a dad who never gives up the search for his missing kid. I wouldn't say the film itself was great but the emotional acting was superb. I saw it some years ago but decided to rewatch this year. Its certainly worth a first watch but not a rewatch.

TUSK

What in the actual FCK! And they said it couldnā€™t get any worse than The Human Centipede (which I didn't watch but saw enough to understand). If you can sit through this film, go for it. I always found something cute about Justin Long, but you wonā€™t see it for long in this film!

I never got over his death in Jeepers Creepers, but man the villain in this film put that creep to shame. I fastforwarded through to the action and I still couldnā€™t even look at the screen. I skipped to the horrendous end. This movie is 101 minutes and Iā€™m pretty sure I only watched a total of 10 Minutes. Disgusting torture!!

ONE FALSE MOVE

Old film but good action. I saw this one some years ago and it was actually better the second time around. Michael Beach is a crook as usual and Billy Bob Thornton is crazy as usual as the two are on the run from the popoā€™s. Bill Paxton really lacked that ā€œTwisterā€ energy but I oddly liked this film although the ending felt a bit rushed. One of the funniest things to me is how well the little kid is trained not to snitch on the location of one of the murderers.

BLACK ADAM

Boy Oh Boy! This film made me want to cry. Not because it was good but because I wanted to see it so badly and it turned out to be so freakin bad šŸ˜ I always imagined the Rock as a superhero, but not while looking like a boulder. Like dang, I really miss The Walking Tall version of the Rock because this one was so annoying. He was even great in San Andreas and Rampage bur I don't know what this was.

I enjoyed the family that took him in although my friend said it was odd for that grownass kid to be rocking a cape. šŸ˜‚ The villain was predictable. The fight with Hawkman was unnecessary and still confuses me. Like they threw in the ā€œCaptain America Civil Warā€ vibes way too soon with that one.

Antman, I mean Atom Smasher had the most ridiculous role. Was he supposed to be the Hulk meshed with Antman because the tv show ā€œThe Flashā€ didnā€™t even make Atom (former Superman Brandon Routh) this ridiculous. Doctor Strange, I mean Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) was even disappointing. And i feel he couldā€™ve been so much more had the writers given him something more to do. I have never heard of Cyclone but the colors she created was cool. However, her partnership with Atom Smasher just seemed even more ridiculous than Negasonic and Colossus teaming up in Deadpool.

I donā€™t even care for Cavill as Superman but dammit i wanted him to come humble Adam so dang badly like he did to that trashbag Batman because this other little halfass Justice League team couldnt do anything with Black Adam. Its funny how I thought Shazam would be bad but turned out to be an amazing film. Meanwhile Black Adam looked good but overall was just bad. I will not be rewatching.

THE FOREVER PURGE

Man, they just keep on disappointing. The only good film in this series was Purge Anarchy. I mean Frank Grillo was always so badass anyways! Well i was hopeful for Forever Purge because of Josh Lucas, but his performance was lacking. I didnā€™t think anything could be as close to his horrible acting in ā€œStolenā€.

Ana De La Reguera and Tenoch Huerta absolutely stole the show. (And I didnā€™t even know of them until this film.) Plus I just realized Tenoch is the same dude who plays the Mayan villain from Wakanda Forever. Hell even Will Pattons smallass cameo in this purge film was a better 5 minute scene than what Josh gave the entire film.

BLACK PANTHER WAKANDA 4EVA

Man, where do I start. This was definitely one of those films where the trailer was better than the film itself. The trailer was so epic and beautiful and paid serious tribute. Rip Chadwick!! But the best thing about the first film in my opinion was Suri and the soundtrack... and dang they ruined both this time around.

I tried to be understanding of what Suri was going through but man her bright personality and cool scientific creations was what made me love her. Nothing about her was lovable in this film. I still wish BPā€™s girlfriend Nakia (Lupita Nyongo) had been the female panther instead. But I hear she's getting a Disney Plus show. Ironheart and Angela Basset tried their best. Angela is honestly more built to be the female BP than Suri. And Ironheart did give the cool vibes that Suri gave in the first film. But damn the writers did Bassets character so wrong. The end.

As for the villain, the most I could say was WHAT IN THE AVATAR IS THIS INTRO?

I mean the villains were kind of cool, but Iā€™m not an avatar fan so seeing what looked like the knockoff version didnā€™t make me jump for joy. I will say the villainā€™s acting was better in comparison to Michael B Jordanā€™s try hard attempt in Black Panther 1. Like Michael B Jordan had the demeanor and the looks but his attitude and temper tantrums that he throws in every film is so off-putting.

Aside from mourning a death, and another, the storyline of this film was sucky in comparison to the first. Anyways, the little things I enjoyed about this film were seeing both cultures origin/celebrations. Other than that, nah another sucky Marvel film. There were the good (Civil War, Endgame, Iron Man 1, Shang Chi, Iron Man 3, Doctor Strange 1, Incredible Hulk, Eternals, Antman/Wasp, No Way Home, Ragnarok, Hawkeye tv show) and the rest were just mediocre or bad.

THE MEG

So I saw this film in theaters but decided to rewatch. Man its still as bad as the Piranha films. Its so bad I canā€™t even bring myself to give a good review on it again. I love Jason Statham in films like F&F, Spy, Safe, Death Race, Crank, The Transporter 2, Cellular, Expendables, but his movies like The Meg, Homefront, Parker, Wrath of the Man, are just a huuuge no.

The silliest part of the film was when they go after the wrong shark (one thats clearly smaller than the Meg) or when Dwight from the Office is blowing up what he thinks is a shark. Such an idiotic film. Even the kid making the puppy dog eyes couldnt save this film. And man they hardly gave Rebecca Romijn a part to play.

But if i had to state the interesting part of the film, that would be when the shark attacks the beach with all the people. I was just really hoping for a good ā€œseriousā€ shark film or something more like Bait, Deep Blue Sea, Shark Knight or even Jaws The Revenge. But instead, I got a parody like Sharknado.

THE REMAINING

This film was certainly better the first time around. Iā€™m trying to watch it now many years later and its nowhere near as good as the first watch. I guess thats because I now know why people had to ā€œdieā€. But wow, what a way to crash a wedding. If youā€™re into faith based films like Legion or Frailty then you might enjoy this one loosely based on ā€œThe Raptureā€.

FRAILTY

I actually didnā€™t intend to review this movie but since I mentioned it above, I may as well. Alright, Alright, Alright... I love movies with a good twist and Iā€™d love to say this one gave a good one. Buuuut, youā€™d have to be an idiot to not realize the villain right away. All i can say is the flashback story with the kids and the ā€œnot so big revealā€ ending were amazing. Definitely watch at least once. I watched it several in the past few years. Iā€™ll watch pretty much anything with Jeremy Sumpter and Matt Oā€™Leary.

FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX

This was one of those films that I tried as a kid but just couldnā€™t get into. I quit early on. I tried again as a teen but the film was halfway over so I only got to see the ending. As an adult, I finally saw the entire film. Omg such an epic cast and soundtrack!

I mean poor Jared Padelecki got the short end of the stick again (just like he got the candle stick treatment in House of Wax), but man... Hugh Laurie, Jason ā€œBaby Joker/No More Locked Doorsā€ Vargas, Sticky Fingaz, and Tony Curran are not normally my type, but they were surprisingly gorgeous af in this film to me lol. The cast was just so hot hot hot!

I loved the action. I loved the sandstorm (but FH5 got me scared now). I loved being able to dance to James Brown, Johnny Cash, Outkast, and all throughout the film. I mean the ending with them flying on the wings seemed a bit dumb as hell, but overall... This film was GENIUS and so beautifully diverse. I hate that another film remake became a box office flop.

Welp, I was just invited to go to the movies today. But I think Iā€™ll wait and rent Ant-Man and Cocaine Bear on tv for a quarter of what the theater wouldā€™ve charged. Iā€™m just so ready for March! March 3rd is Creed III, March 10th is 65, and March 17th is Shazam 2. ā€œ65ā€ is giving ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE IN THEATERS VIBES!!
