Why? Because then there could be more complex dialogue and storylines, sex or provocative imagery, etc. etc.

The 5 Movie Classification Ratings:

  • G: General Audiences. This program is designed to be appropriate for all ages.
  • PG: Parental Guidance Suggested. Parents are urged to give parental guidance.
  • PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may not be suited for children under 13.
  • R: Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
  • NC-17: Clearly Adult. For ages 18 and above.
