Why does The Green Goblin want to torment Spider-Man so much?

So if you’ve watched or read anything Spider-Man related then you know if his infamous archnemesis, The Green Goblin who’s real name is Norman Osborn, the father of his best friend Harry. Norman tried to test a serum designed to enhance his physical ability as well as healing factor and intellect. This lead him to becoming insane and developing on obsession with tormenting Spider-Man. Unlike his Carnage who doesn’t care who he spreads chaos too, Kingpin who wants wealth and power, and Doc Ock who wants to prove his intellect. The Green Goblin only wants to make Spidey’s life a living nightmare. The most infamous example is in The Amazing Spider-Man #121 where he throws Gwen Stacy off a bridge. Spidey tries to catch her but the sudden stop snaps her neck. This time, Spidey would actually try to kill The Goblin. And he nearly succeeded until he realised that would’ve made him a murderer like Osborn. However he was killed by his glider. Norman’s son Harry also donned the mantle. Now if you’ve read all that then I wanna know why this green freak who flies around on a glider keeps intentionally making life difficult for Spidey and shows absolutely no signs of stopping

Originally Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the creators of Spider-Man disagreed over his identity. Stan Lee wanted Norman Osborn and Ditko wanted it to be someone else. Ditko left so they chose Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin. Spider-Man kept foiling the Green Goblins plans for evil and Osborn grew frustrated and became psychotic. He later found out Spider-Man’s identity and vowed revenge for him constantly interfering with his plans. He killed Gwen Stacy, then was later killed himself. Marvel resurrected him years later so it gets messy after that. I thought the Hobgoblin storyline proved far superior than the Green Goblin until Marvel screwed it up by not settling on who he really was. Ned Leeds was a terrible idea. The other names didn’t make much sense either.
