Wars. Trek was my Dad's thing. When I get into something, I get INTO it; I didn't want to risk crowding him out of something he loved. That probably sounds strange, but I've seen it happen before. Of course, at it stands, BOTH franchises have been pile-driven into the ground by JJ Abrams, and then taken by another dolt and pushed still further; neither is more than a shadow of what it used to be.
I remember seeing a comedy news bit once- I think it was Bill Maher- talking about Geraldo, who'd just gotten in trouble for revealing American troop locations live on TV, and the host was asking "Who keeps hiring this guy? Do you even know anyone who knows anyone WHO KNOWS ANYONE who likes Geraldo?". I feel the same about Abrams. How much dirt does he HAVE on people in Hollywood?
If it is any consolation, Kathleen Kennedy first ruined Star Wars, J. J. Abrams just delivered the coup de grace, although he certainly deserves blame too:

"Abrams. How much dirt does he HAVE on people in Hollywood?" - It's worse than that. Abrams is part of their political agenda:

I can't pick a fave without omitting a bunch of shit from both camps. With all that out of the way, I pick Star.. Trek! Really TNG was the deciding factor.
Star Wars, they know when to stop after the 6 movies and not ry to milk it with stuff like chritmess spasials and copy pasteys
But honestly for me its Star Wars becouse they just had over all less, Star Trek is great from what I remmber but as a TV show they went beyond wheee any prodoction should have went, and jump the shark to infinity and beyond
I personally will just go with Star Trek Wars, becouse seeing a "We got X" "But we got Y" is good thing if you got popcorn, also teachs you how bigger it is then what you may know
But really Gamer691 from the game Infinity that really push Star Trek
Star wars for me. Star trek always seemed phoney. Or lack of as much effort in comparison. I have been to conventions with both fans and they are all great fun.
Iโm an xfiles convention type. They often overlapped.
@Cassie88 I said it lacked effort in my opinion.

Neither 🤠
Iโve never been into any space sci-fi shit. Just doesnโt interest me
Star Trek, of course - especially the stuff before 2009 because everything since JJ Abrams is... well... lacking.
That said, I DID see Star Wars in theaters in 1977.
Notice the opening crawl... No "Episode IV: A New Hope" bullshit.
This was Star Wars as it original was... which is pretty much impossible to see now.
And this IS how we reacted to seeing the above...
https://www.youtube.com/embed/1gz8UYqLp-o However, I gotta tell you,...
I was at the first showing, opening day, for Star Trek III in June 1984.
So, it was all nerds like me that morning watching that film.
And, when we saw what happened, we were all speechless just soaking this in.
We all silently knew we were watching cinematic history unfold.

The technology of Star Wars is actually more realistic, but the Force is a false god concept. Star Trek has always just proposed fantastic particles to explain everything, even when no such particle exists in reality. Star Trek also has the problem of proposing false god archetypes. I don't like that about either series.
I propose that the original 3 Star Wars movies are superior, because it offers redemption through self-sacrifice. Vader redeems himself by destroying both the Emperor and Himself.
I've enjoyed both.
Star Trek for the philosophy, Star Wars for the amazing story, special effects, and excitement.
No poll, eh? I vote Star Wars, overall.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/jL1dEyDMA-oYes, The original series was really ahead of its time. There was an episode with Frank Gordin as an alien that was half black and half white. He was hunted down by other aliens that we're also half black and half white, except they were black on one side and Frank Gorshin was black on the other. It was a great metaphor and really made the whole concept of racism seem silly.
I saw an interview with Zachary Quinto when he was doing promo for his role in Star Trek.
His attitude about the original series disgusted me. I can't stand the guy.
He saw nothing good about those episodes, and really disparaged them.
I would have fired him. Or, since it was already in the can, probably, not rehired him.
Star Trek started out good but then it got a little fruity with all the weird episodes, like the Tribbles and the gangsters one. Star Wars was good throughout, in my humble opinion.
Hmmm. Really?
The Tribbles & the gangsters were two of my favorite episodes.
@Static_In_The_Attic. I liked them too! Tribbles were a big hit at the time
I choose Star Trek. It's hokey, but the characters are fun and there are good plots.
The original Star Wars was mind blowing when I came out. But the sequels went down hill to the point of being unbearable. They were geared toward merchandising to children.
I Have not seen either.
Once when i was like 8 someone tried to get me to watch one of the star wars movie, but it was really bad and i watched maybe 10 minutes and stopped watching
Both Star Wars and Star Trek have a devoted fan base, and opinions on which is superior can vary widely. It depends on one's personal preferences, some people prefer the epic space operas and fantasy elements of Star Wars, while I prefer the science fiction and exploration of Star Trek.
Both.
Next Gen over OG (and all the others)
OG Trilogy over the Prequels over the Sequels.
The reboot films over the previous canon films for Star Trek
The Mandalorian over all other things Star Wars ( havenโt seen The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi or Andor yet)
Come one. This is the only one that really matters here...
*Come on
Which is worse?
Neither for me! Neither of these shows is quite my style.
I'm a Trekkie... and proud of it. Star Wars has no one like T'Pol, Deana Troi, or Seven of Nine
Depends on my mood. Star Trek is a show that has deeper meaning. It is a reflection of our own world and culture and addresses the social issues that plague society. Star Wars is drama that only cares about its own characters and internal conflicts.
Neither. Both were destroyed in the 2010-2023 culture wars.
🖖🖖🖖 You Know My Answer On This One 🖖🖖🖖
@Cassie88 ๐
never watched either... but I might watch Star Wars, going with that...
star trek better
star wars original 1 and 2 were good.
I always liked space adventures.
But for some reason I haven't really enjoyed those more than any other average movie.
Star Wars for me though I do like watching the older star trek shows from time to time to.
I used to be firmly in the Star Trek camp, but I like both now. They've both had their highs and lows.
Gotta say Star Wars but I never seen all of the star wars lol but I did watch the Mandolorian lol
Star Trek over Star Wars. But I do like both.
Formerly Star Trek (prior to 1999). Converted to Star Wars.
I never really watched Star Trek, so Star Wars
Neither! They're equally bad, equally cringey! :D
Why?
@Guardian45 Well... where do I even begin?
At the risk of being accused of being too picky, too difficult to please, I just cannot watch either show for the simple reason that I just cannot lose myself in the experience. Why can't I do that? Simply because I already know too much about how the real world works, which means I know that, for example, sound waves cannot traverse a vacuum. What do we see in both 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek'? Spacecraft that, when they explode, go BANG!, and in 'Star Wars' they also maneuver like fighter jets (and go "whoosh, whoosh, eeee or"). Not only that, but we're meant to believe that sound can travel at the speed of light, because we always hear the explosion at the same split second we see it on screen, something that both "franchises" are guilty of.
I actually do like science fiction, but GOOD science fiction, fiction that doesn't insult the intelligence of the viewer, that doesn't assume we're all dummies who know nothing about science, or space, or reality in general. And don't even get me started on those utterly STUPID Marvel superhero films! God Almighty they're atrocious!
Ok. What do you consider good SciFi?
What's wrong with being bitrektual?
When I was younger I was more Star Wars. Nowadays I am more Star Trek.
Star Wars is more fantasy. Star Trek is more science fiction.
i don't know enough about star trek so i like star wars instead.
I like both, but only certain things. I don't care anything after the first three movies and Rogue One in Starwars. Star Trek, I'm only familiar with the Original series, their movies, and the reboot movie set.
If the tv show then Star Trek. If the movie then Star Wars and only the 90s+ ones tbh
I like them both. I give โStar Warsโ a slight edge overall though.
Star Trek
Star Wars: great theme, usually crappy dialog.
Star Trek: Lots of ups and downs from series to series, but DS9 seals it for me.
Some people are neither lol😀..
Star Trek.
They've both gone woke and have been bastardized so meh
Star wars. I never watched Trek.
Matrix.
When you understand what the Matrix is let me know.
Clue: it's not society.
My question is:
What is the Matrix, in real life?
The Matrix is you. One day you will understand :P
Neither.
Why?
@Guardian45 I saw one Star Wars movie. It was predictable and boring. And I never saw Star Trek.
Han Solo 💕
I also crushed in Data a bit, but not like Han Solo. ๐
I like both
Star trek original TV show!!
